We call these mini greenhouses "cloches" where I live. I've had good results using gallon milk jugs with the bottoms cut out. If it's really going to get cold, you can also just throw a tarp over the cloches to give it an extra layer of insulation for the night.

Same in Michigan, still getting in the 40s at night. I finally just planted my tomatoes and hoping for survival of the fittest. I like the plant in corner method-I hate how much room tomatoes take up. 😊

You're not crazy but by planting the tomato right in the corner and directly next to the edge you are reducing your root system by over 1/3 on the edge and 1/2 in the corner. In square foot gardening the tomatoes want to go to the middle of the square and the wasted space can fit companion plants like garlic or marigolds

Is it tomatoes or tomatoes wait that don't work typing it does it 😆🤣😅 The doggies look so laid back 😎 You should be able to supply the local grocery store with that many or make a bunch of spaghetti sauce 👍

This year and last year I started tomatoes inside from seed. Last year, in June, I let them outside overnight to get them accustomed to the weather in June. By morning they were dead. This year I did some research and noticed that they should be transplanted with a consistent night time temperature of 70 or more. I'll wait and then bury them deep as you suggested. I'm not going to risk it.

You are dog crazy!❤. I'll be curious to know what became of your tomato plants growing under the green tinted bottles. Pls do a follow up on that. Pls. I'm curious about that watering technique, and the frequency of watering, etc....

These are just common tips for growing tomatoes... not really related to cold weather growing. In fact, my tomatoes aren't affected by mid-40s. I usually grow sweet 100s, yellow plums, beefsteaks, and others. What variety are you growing?
