If you want the harvest to be bigger, cut the bottom flower off once it stops flowering. Also use the stem to cover the soil to retain moiture and act as fertilizer once it rots. Finally, uproot some of the tubers for better harvest as too crowded. Otherwise, glad to see the young couple. Thanks

That not how we harvest plantain in my country. We only cut down the plantain and not the whole head of the tree. The tree can still grow more plantain so why cut it down.🙏🏾

The tree bears once that’s why it’s cut down. I learnt it from one of the workers when we were doing the banana harvest.

In other parts of the world the plantain tree only bears once. ONLY in your yard does it bear fruit more than once.
@OdopaTruelove

What country are you from !! Plantain and Banana grow just one bunch. The rest of the tree is cut into small pieces as cow, goat, sheep, even chicken food. And the entire middle trunk of the tree can be recycle into fibre as in thread for waving the Kente clothes or the Northern fogu. Unfortunately, in Ghana we seems to throw them away. 🤫
