The whole Imperfect Cell Saga felt like something right out of a horror story.

This scene really gave me chills as a teenager. People were preparing for Androids but Cell came out of syllabus out of nowhere..

This was the darkest saga in the series.

In my honest opinion this scene, with its original japanese background music and its total absence of words between Piccolo and Cell, is the creepiest DBZ's scene ever.

And that, ladies & gentlemen, is the best villain introduction in the history of animation.

I liked this form of cell the most

The time where Piccolo was the strongest hero. To think a few years ago, he was the principal threat of the earth and here he is their last hope. The only one capable to face the cyborgs including Cell and defend the earth and his people from them. It was not for long but he was way stronger than the saiyans. I really hope he'll come back in Super, he is one of the best characters.

One of the best introductions to a villain ever. So creepy.

This whole build up was PERFECT! We never saw Cell until now, but everything that led up to him came together flawlessly. Even though he didn’t show it, I felt the fear Piccolo had when looking around the town only to see nothing, but then encounter Cell.

Aah... Those were the days when a character had its own journey, storyline, form , Outlook and legacy. The story used to be rich & gripping at every turn of events. Power actually meant something & the fear to fail used to be felt by the viewers...

The lack of music in the scene where piccolo meets cell is legendary. Two alpha villains who want to dominate the world, one newly wrought, the other a veteran with a change of heart. Cell even acknowledges Piccolo in this scene calling him by his full name: “Piccolo Daimao”. Cells introduction is simply terrifying in an anime sort of way, making Piccolo’s power up all the more epic as we see the confidence on Cell’s face start to drain away. Piccolo still knows how to put the fear of Kami in people.

My god, Cell still gives chills. Just the idea of him is the most terrifying villain of DBZ.

Cell looks he belongs in a alien movie

This is why Cell is my favorite DBZ villain. His build-up is actually unsettling, and his very first scene shows him drinking a person dry. That is how you set up a legitimately powerful villain.

Piccolo really looked like a superhero in this scene. Cell looked really disgusting and scary at the same time

Gotta love Piccolo’s Composure, any other Z-Fighter would either be shitting bricks (Krillin) or eager to fight (Vegeta) when confronted by Imperfect Cell for the first time, but not Piccolo Daimao, no he is ever stoic almost like a Vulcan.

Ironically enough the music that starts introducing Cell at 1:20 is the same music that plays along at his departure against Gohan's Kamehameha.

I like how there was no build up. Like nobody know who Cell was, it was just "hey some weird shit i going on a ginger town" Piccolo goes there and this happen. Completely outta nowhere

The first time I saw Cell, I fell in love. He became my favourite character. Biology rules!

I just realized, the music played here when Cell first appears is the same as when he self-destructs, and when Gohan kills him. Similarly, the music played when Frieza first appeared was used again when he was hit with the Spirit Bomb, and when Goku became a Super Saiyan :0 I guess when the music of a main villain's first appearance plays, you know they're fucked

It's like Piccolo just walked into a Vincent Price or Charlton Heston film...

Best scene involving cell in my opinion. I think he’s a horror character and the better we get to know him and see him fight and often lose he becomes less scary

This still gives me chills, it sends me back to when I was around 7-8 years old when I first saw this on tv, over at my grandma’s house

Fun fact: At the 1:21 mark. That's the same soundtrack used when SSJ2 Gohan unleashed his full power Kamehameha as he walks forward to Cell and completely eradicates him from existence. I'm still surprised DBZ was a Saturday morning cartoon show in Japan's version of it. Imagine you're eight years old and you see this at 11 am, completely traumatizing. I was fortunate and unfortunate enough to watch this scene in it's original entirety on the International Channel all those years ago albeit with no subtitles and had to use my imagination to figure out what they were saying to each other. Yep very traumatizing indeed.

The bgm in the beginning is called " the wrath of tao pai pai "

I was 4 years old when I watched this and next I watched every night under my bed because of Cell 😂

Up to this point of the story kami only sensed cell this is his first visual contact since senses people that were gone and seeing all those energy signatures disappear where lay clothes of people that use to be.

You know what's really unsettling? With his mouth closed like that, not only does it look like a freaky looking face mask, but since you can't tell where his mouth is, the lines down his face give the impression of him having half a dozen creepy grins.

Love how they still used some of Kikuchi’s music scores throughout Z. Some of the themes go better in Z than OG Dragon ball. For example the beggining

I know that I am too late to have any views on this comment, nevertheless, it's worth saying that the sound track that introduces cell (1:20) is the same sound track that is playing when Cell dies by Gohan's Kamehameha and that gives me goosebumps.

This is the only major villain that came out of the blue. Frieza, the androids, Buu all had build up to them. You knew the heroes would face them eventually, but with Cell, there was pretty much no introduction. You were led to believe the androids would be the true villains, but this is one of the best ways to introduce a villain. Kami sensed something a few years ago, thinking there's something worse than the androids, entire towns have disappeared and you haven this monster draining people and somehow not only has the energy of Piccolo, Vegeta, Frieza, King Cold and Goku, but also is able to use their abilities. Cell also kind of had a unique way of doing things, as he didn't have a set goal in mind. Just absorb the androids and do whatever he wanted. Didn't want to rule everything like Frieza and didn't want just destruction alone like Buu. He just wanted to have fun. And he kind of had an obsession with instilling fear as well into others.

It's like that cannibal zombie movie comet it was like in 1984.
