Finally I found a video that helps with my dilemma of how to position 1 vs 2 filters :) can I ask for your thoughts please. I have a 4ft long tank, heavily planted, but quite flat, just with big driftwood with anubias and java fern attached. I have 2x fluval 307 filters but Iam so sick of cleaning the glass lily pipes and transparent hoses from the massive algae build up, servicing 2 filters every month, etc. Is there a benefit to having two canisters in my 120cm planted tank? Or I can stick with one?

Great video guys. Just found your channel a few weeks ago and have watch most of the videos now. Been keeping fish for 20 years but only just got into aquascaping. Hope you can answer a question for me. I have one of my tanks in the corner of a room so no room on the left side, loads down the back and the right side. Tank is 4ft with 2 eheim pro 3 600 filters. Just ordered 2 sets of lilly pipes for it. Where would you put the inlet and outlet pipes with no access on the left side of the tank? I was thinking on the back corners pointing towards the front? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Very useful video. Could you recommend the best way to place the lily pipes on an oase styling where it has cut outs for cables and piping in the back left and right corners? Currently I have them both together in the left with the lilly pipe facing width ways of the tank. (Directly forward) am I running it in a inefficient way by doing this? I am limited with placement due to the lids of the tank

Thanks. this confirms what just seems to be logical to me. I have a hang on back filter on a 20 gallon tank. and it just seemed to make better sense to put the filter on the side. so the water circulates the whole tank lengthwise. plus that way it simulates the natural flow like a stream. my fish love it. I was looking for ideas of where to place my in-tank diffuser for the pressurized co2 system I'll be installing soon .. thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@kkiiization

Are you going to put the co2 diffuser opposite to the HOB filter? I’m in the same situation as you and don’t know what to do to evenly distribute CO2
@patricklaundra3286
@patricklaundra3286 Жыл бұрын
@@kkiiization I'm not absolutely certain. I don't have my CO2 system yet. But by watching debris in my aquarium. I can see the way the water circulates. And it does seem logical to put the CO2 diffuser, low on the opposite side. It seems that way the bubbles will circulate across the bottom of the tank as they rise.
@richardcunliffe
@richardcunliffe 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great content as usual! Can you explain why having the diffuser underneath the inflow isn't just as good? I imagine it would push the bubbles all over just as well, but I haven't seen it done. My tank (regrettably) is a fluval edge with very limited options for placement!
@perrywhitledge4005
@perrywhitledge4005 Жыл бұрын
Probably because there would be a lot of agitation going through the filter and a good part of the CO2 would be lost instead of being in the tank before it goes through the filter and is used by the plants while the concentration of it is still high. Just a guess, maybe he’ll answer it.

Great video! If I’m running CO2 on a long tank with two filters and I have the outflows on opposite sides with one in back and one in front would I be able to inject the CO2 in just one outflow with an inline diffuser or would it be better to inject in both outflows? Thanks for making such awesome content!

Beautiful scapes. I guess with such amazing scapes your fish likely have no reason to leave their amazing tanks, but how do you stop fish jumping out the tanks without top covers? Or are the fish species used in rimless open top tanks less prone to jump out the water? Which fish species are less likely to jump? Thx.

fish species is important. nano fish aren't really known to jump out. Shrimp occasional will jump out due too water parameters being off

@GreenAquaShop

No, the filter bacteria will suffer if a lot of CO2 would get into the external filter and the pH there would drop. So don't do it.

Perhaps you could go a bit into detail about diffuser placement; in regards to the correlation there seem to be with BBA and its tendencies to thrive on hardscape in areas with high flow and co2 mist. I believe ADA raises their diffusers or sometime keeps them at the same side as the outflow for this reason.
@microcox
@microcox 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Where did you see that? BBA is probably the last resisting algae once you master the basics.

Yeah, ADA raises them a bit, but we did not see a correlation between the appearance of BBA and diffuser placement.

If I have a CO2 external reactor, should I put the spray bar pointing slightly upwards? Would surface agitation release the well dissolved CO2 or having the output water hitting the surface would not be much of a deal for such dissolved CO2?

Hello Tomi, Its a nice video and its clear all the instructions but I don't have any expensive aquarium so if you would be so kind to make another one in the future where you have an aquarium top(because of cats) or let's say if you have a juwel lido where you can't really change the in and outlet position what can you do then? Love your videos by the way!
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 2 жыл бұрын
I would make custom lily pipes that could work on the side of the back wall where the opening is for Juwel. The outlet would push the water sideways after it comes in through the back wall opening.

Is this a good or bad idea? Also, I have air stones in the tank… will this surface agitation destroy the effect of co2 injection? Tia x

How do I place the lily pipes in a UNS 40c with a central hardscape? I am using a UNS stand with Fluval 207 canister filter. The stand is low in the back opening which i think would kink the tubing unless I use some sort of spiral to put around the house much like a garden hose anti-kink attachment.
