I am so happy top hear I’m not the only one who plants something, stands back and says, “Nope. A little to the left.” There are sooo many things in my garden that I’ve dug up and scooted over just a little. Thank you for the validation!

i planted a bush one foot over but left it because an old living bush was 3ft over. old bush died last year, now it is so obvious the huge mistake i made planting the new one without pulling out the old one. new one is too big to move now, looks so out of place just a foot out of place. ouch, every time i look at it.

Oh Laura! I loved this video! First, the mulch just looks AMAZING! Nice job Paul!! Very nice. It changes the whole look of the entire space. When you were planting your second drift under that tree, I had to scan the area to try to figure out where you were because of the shade you were under!!! It is so incredible the amount of development you all have done and it is so much fun & joy for me to watch this transformation. I sincerely thank you for all the joy you just keep on giving me & how much work it really entails is not forgotten for one minute. I literally smile from the moment I push play until the moment I hear “& we’ll see you in the next one” thank you 🙏🏼thank you 🙏🏼 thank you 🙏🏼😊♥️

It’s about time you get the tall hyssop! You are going to love it, I got Anise Hyssop in my garden every year (it self seeds) and the pollinators absolutely LOVE it, bonus too if you grow the variety Anise Hyssop, the leaves and flowers make a wonderful addition to any vanilla based dessert. Couldn’t recommend it more.

What a fun video today. As much as I have enjoyed everything you've done on the new property or South Garden I should say, it's been fun today to see you working back up in the older flower beds. Love the weeping willow and that whole area. Looking forward to what you're going to do around the Hartley and in the back Garden. Not sure what you call that area. The North Garden? Anyway thanks for all the fun inspiration. I'm going to try this plant since you said it is deer resistant. That's my biggest struggle living next to the woods. Thanks so much!

I love listening to you (and Aaron, of couse) on all your many posts, but hearing the quail in the background is a special added feature to your videos. Also, when you talked about moving the blue spruce twice it reminded me of my late husband placing rocks and plants around our pond: I'd ask him to move something (usually a large rock) about 6 to 12 inches and he'd say "you do know this isn't like rearranging the living room furniture, don't you?"

I am in love with hyssop. I have a variety that is so fragrant. The leaves as well. I love to gather the branches around my face and drink in the sent. I have blue fortune Agastache that is over 4” tall in its second year. It is such a lovely substantial bush with a nice anise/licorice flavored leaves. We have very heavy dear pressure here and the dear aren’t picky either, but they won’t touch my hyssop because of its strong sent. Thank you Laura for bringing some attention to these wonderful plants!

I have an area in my garden that I call "The Savannah" as I have planted different types of wispy grasses and I am seriously on the hunt for "Blonde Ambition" now! Lovely! The Agastache is lovely! My favorite is called Licorice mint. I think the color range is visible to both bees and birds because the hummingbirds love it as do the bees! I am not too fond of bright jewel tones but some pollinators do, so I tuck a few in here and there. Everything is looking wonderful and thank you for all you do!

Oh I have missed this area, your first remake around the Hebe statue was one if the first video of yours I watched and I have always loved this space! In my opinion, this area would be the perfect place to put a pondless waterfall. Its still a water feature but it's not big enough to compete with the Hartley. Also, the closed reservoir is perfect for a place close to such a messy tree! A quick question: I've noticed you haven't been using your big augers to plant trees lately, instead digging with shovels, is there a particular reason why you don't prefer to use the bigger drill bits anymore?

I'm so glad to learn I'm not the only one......the only one who gets dirty head to toe while trying to plant something like this and the only one who thinks they have the hole in the perfect spot, puts the plant in, then steps back only to find just how wrong I was. I do same hanging pictures (not dirty though). I hang, think it's perfectly straight, then step back and realize it's way crooked. There's something about the perspective......when you're that close you just can't tell. I've started digging holes and putting my shovel in the hole so I can step back and see if I'm on the right track. Worked great for my dogwood tree. Shovel in, went inside to check the views from various windows. Saved me a lot of misery. :-)

Your new blue spruce is beautiful. The way it weeps, the color of its needles, the size… it’s just perfect. I love it. My parents had the most gorgeous blue spruce in their back yard… not the weeping variety, and my dad kept it trimmed and tidy. Then at Christmas, in Spokane, WA, we decorated it with lights, fairy style lights, even when they weren’t popular. I remember standing at the backyard windows watching December crystal white snow falling and continuing to make that beautiful tree look magical. A wonderful memory from the 1950s. Oops, looks like I just gave my old age away! ❤️

That blue spruce looks amazing in its spot, LOVE blue spruce!! I have to say, the south garden is coming along quite nicely!!! It is filling up the space, looks soooo good with the grass pathways. CANNOT wait to see what it will look like this fall and next spring. It will be ABSOLUTELY glorious! You are such an inspiration, thank you.

I love your established beds. It’s like tucking in with a favorite quilt. Your South property is filling in so nicely. It won’t be long before they have the same feel.

I just bout 1 of the Blue Fortune Agastache - as a trial plant in a full sun no dig bed I made last year! It is loving it there and is just now beginning to bloom! I love the blue color! Now I want more of them and I always chose an odd number as you suggested 1,3,5,7 in groupings! Love that principle you taught us! Choosing Joy ~ stephanie

Thank you for introducing us to so many different plants and their varieties. Do you order most of these ahead of time or pick them all up in the spring? It is hard to find any type of variety right now. That blue weeping spruce is perfect there especially with the agastache pulling out the color in the smoke bush and making the blue spruce color pop. I am seeing the four colors in that area. I have always worked on having flowers blooming throughout the season but I now know what I’m missing is the leaf colors. Love to see the gorilla cart come out.

Agastache and hyssop are really easy to start from seed. I got my seeds at Baker's Creek. Golden Hyssop is beautiful.
