I see you working so hard to plant things so I have something that helped us dig holes in our clay in TN. We are 75 years old and use this spade/shovel to make it easier on us.It comes from QVC,the item number is M65692 it is called a spear head gardening spade and shovel.It is not cheap but you can buy it on easy pay.I don't know if you ever shopped from there before but I have for over 25 years.This made our lives so much easier when it came to gardening.

Thanks for the tip! (I would have had an easier time if I had watered in advance, but oh well). It's a great form of exercise, anyway.

I bought two of them earlier this week don't have a clue where I'm going to put them but they're hardly ever available in my area zone 9B so I have to plant them in part sun 😎 I love them that much 🤓

You can also add compost to the hole you dig which will help to amend the soil in the area you are planting.

I really appreciate the fact that you mention thr zones for all your plants, even though you garden in zone where zones don't matter as much. I garden in zone 3 and love our growing season. Looking for a Bobo asap.

We all have our soil challenges. My entire yard is sand. I am on the southeastern coast of NC, zone 8a. Water drains quickly, mostly a good thing because we have 6 inches of rain in 36 hours. I’ve gardened in heavy clay. What a challenge!

Hi from N Anne Arundel county! Just found your channel 😊. I bought 2 Bobos on clearance at Lowes a few weeks ago. I planted them in pots and I hope to overwinter them there while I make a place for them in my garden (want to try the no dig method for a new bed in the fall and plant in the spring, we'll see how patient I can be!).

Maybe you need an electric auger like what Laura on "Garden Answer" has?

Perhaps an auger would help you given you garden in clay soil. Beautiful garden!

I think the auger is just a bit more power tool than I could easily handle on my own - at least the large one that I'd need for this tough soil! I like the exercise, anyway. :-)

I get confused with hydrangea. They say full to part shade but I see them planted with full shade plants. Can you clear my head? Am I correct that bleeding heart us full shade and hostas are mixed. My yard is mostly full shade. On a side note, I can't get bleeding heart to grow! So frustrating!
@HarmonyHillsHomeandGarden
@HarmonyHillsHomeandGarden 2 жыл бұрын
There are multiple types of hydrangea, and each requires different conditions. All require lots of water. Paniculata (Limelight, Bobo, others) require full to part sun. Macrophylla (Endless Summer, others) require part to full shade. etc. Be sure to look up what type you are planting before deciding where to put it. Bleeding heart can take part sun, but not hot afternoon sun. Morning sun afternoon shade is best. it is also thirsty and needs to be kept well watered. Hostas can take more sun, but usually prefer dappled shade. They also need water. Sense a theme????? :-). Good luck!
