I’m not near you, but if seen dozens of people just like you. Get to know your local at scale farmers. Personally, I’m delighted to help, or send over a kid to help you out. I just like seeing people who are connected to the land. Feel people out, get to know them. We hate the dual income professionals who moved to the country just to get away, but some of us love to see producers.

You should try to only “scratch” the grass before planting. you’re just trying to set the existing grass back so the new seeds can get established. Disking 2 or 3 times is overkill and you’ll save money and time by just scratching the surface. Also, I think you’ll find covering with the harrow will work great. If you’re seeding yourself, get a chain pulled harrow and attach it to the tractor behind the seeder and you can seed and cover in one pass. Great job on the video and don’t listen to the naysayers…most have never actually worked any land.

I am in zone 8a, and we are not getting much rain. I have 5 acres, and nothing has been growing on the land except native plants. Do you have some advice on any drought tolerant cover crops I could plant. I am going to have to till the ground with my rottatiller, I call it the beast.
