While gardening is a joy for me no one ever said that gardening WASN’T a workout 🏋🏼. I’m always getting winded in early spring after sitting for most of the winter, thankfully after a few weeks in the garden I start to adjust again. But being 70 I do have to take a few breaks. 🤭🪻🌷💚🙃

What a lot of work! Talk about challenges. Cold weather, steep hill, invasive plants--you deserve a gold medal for this work! Thanks for sharing your progress.

YES to the gorgeous homestead purple verbena! 💜 Jenny, I'm in complete awe of your endless energy and perseverance...and your acrobatic moves today! Your design is absolutely wonderful, and I really love all of your selections and colors. The junipers are a genius idea, and they set a perfect tone for the whole project. Goodness knows that you must be worn to the bone after that incredible workout! I can't wait for the next episode! Your channel is at the top of my gardening favorites!! Linda

I love your vision for the driveway garden and it is already taking shape and looking good. You need a garden buddy to help you with the vinca removal. Big jobs like that are always more enjoyable while chatting with a friend.

You have really changed that garden that you really didn't like into something beautiful and it's just going to get better! I wanted to bring you an empty (no holed) tray to put all your new starts in so you can transport them easily without picking them all up again, but maybe you were throwing them into a tray I couldn't see lol. Very pretty!

Everything's looking great! I just want to say how much I appreciate the amount of time you left the carex details on the screen for me to read without having to pause the video 😂. Planting on a hillside is no joke. What a workout! I have slopes but nothing like yours and it kills my feet and ankles.

Love the simple palette you’ve chosen! Very smart for low maintenance so you don’t need to work on that hill and roll down the driveway later on 😊. It gives the eye a rest also with repetition. At the end you asked about verbena. I would choose only a couple and do large sections to make the greatest impact. Too many and it’s a patchwork quilt. You have Carex and creeping phlox and spring bulbs. And will also add climbing roses on fence. That may be enough. I need to get vinca, yucca and spiderwort out also. And I don’t think I will ever get all the plaintan hostas or that steppables sedum as I still found some. Sigh! Great job!

I like the plan. For me I would add some more winter interest though since most of these things will die back in the winter. Maybe some boxwoods or holly for structure or a narrow conifer. I’m in the northeast so I always am looking for winter interest.

Over the years, with divisions we eventually up with too many plants, lots of spares and changed mind about. I cannot throw plants away but sure don’t need everything Mother Nature gives me! I will put in a nursery pot, water well and put at end of driveway , share the never ending bounty 😊. Mark the plant with a species label and they go in no time on to a new home.

I might have staggered the junipers and planted the middle one more in the middle of the bed , zig zag rather than all lined up along fence ? You have taken on a massive project. I will enjoy following your progress and support you , but I know from experience the work to remove vinca.....good luck with your project Jenny, pace yourself 😊

The junipers are a great fit. I know it’s frowned upon, but the only way to get rid of the ivy is round up. Otherwise, you’ll end up fighting it forever.

I may have misunderstood, but I think you said you were going to plant the carex next to the junipers? If so, both of them look blue-gray on camera so maybe you could spread them further apart? Or maybe my monitor, or my sleepy eyes(it about 2 am) are just mistaken on the colors . I like homestead purple verbena and think it will be pretty on the slope.

Don't understand the fascination with grasses! I want to cut my grass, not grow it in my garden bed. I see the plants everywhere, they don't look great, just like...tall grass
@HarmonyHillsHomeandGarden
@HarmonyHillsHomeandGarden 3 ай бұрын
I understand... these are the first ones I'm adding. They grow out/mounded, not tall, so that's one difference. Mainly, I like that they are erosion control, and native to our area so some insects will benefit from them.
