It is finally ranunculus planting day! The tunnel is done and it is time to get the plants in the ground. Come see how ranunculus are planted, how many we can fit in our tunnel, and all the varieties we chose to grow as we head into year 3 on our Oklahoma flower farm. #flowerfarm #flowerfarming #ranunculus pictures in thumbnail from google images, Rooted Flowers, Earth Dog Farm, and Floret as examples

I cant wait until ranunculus season! Ranunculus & lisianthus are my favorite flower! I'm growing about 400 ranunculus this year. I have found thats about what I need for my area... I cant wait to see your tunnel in the spring@ 😮

Speaking as an Okie. Planted in November In a high tunnel, you will have Ranunculus and anemones in February-April…maybe stretch it into the first week of May if you sucession sow, and if you plant them in part shade you will have them until June 2nd.

Pretty cool watching you planting these months ago when you just sold out of bouquets of them the last couple weekends in present day! ❤

I grow in zone 8A in Texas and grew 3,000 anemones and 4,000 ranunculus last year.... your anemones will bloom much earlier than your ranunculus (3-4 weeks) in my experience. Also, to combat fungal disease, a regular spray routine of Daconil will help a lot. The anemone are very cold hardy and i have had very little to no damage with temps getting down to the low 20s and I grow in the field, not in tunnels.

This is great feedback. Thank you! I was honestly hoping the anemones would bloom with my tulips rather than ranunculus. When you say regular is that weekly, monthly? Just curious. Thanks chase!

I think the label states 21 days but I do once a month and will sometimes do more frequent depending upon if issues arise. Be aware, daconil has a milky appearance and will leave that milky blotchy look on your leaves so you never want to spray it when you have buds/flowers or it will leave that same milky appearance and will not come off. You should have tulips and anemones at the same time. Tulips for me usually start February 20 and i will start getting a good flush of anemones around March1 (all weather dependent of course) and remember, I am a field grower and do not have a lot of experience with tunnels. @@CoramDeoFarm

It confused me that you said Ah-mun-dine, so I googled the pronunciation and it is actually a french name pronounced Ah-mun-deen. Not meaning to be "that person" as I just got corrected on a recent video on the pronunciation of alliums and was happy to have been corrected.

I have a ranunculus that is growing in my garden from last spring.. it never did anything. I live in zone 6a/b wester NY. upper lake area, it never gets below 5* but that plant is thriving.. green as spring, heavy snow loads, constant frosts and a few warm days this year so far in February. I can't wait to see what it does. My reason for the mention is they are hardier than I was told. I wonder if it's because of where it was grown before I planted it? . I'm starting to notice things like this. I put petunias out in March last year. The stems were 16 inches tall. It. I grew them from seed. I put them in bouquets they didn't last that great but wow did they smell nice they're a little sticky too. Also, I still have pansies in my garden in a wheelbarrow that re-bloomed and are thriving out there. I Hope that helps. Oh PS love deep colors "Vampire" with bights. I am not goth😘

Sad dried octopus 😂😂😂😂 great description! Those are a next 2 years goal. Ive seen videos where people start them as seeds but it takes 2 years before having corms. Its cheaper but i am not sure i have this kind of commitment lol. I'll start with the 12-16 weeks commitment of lisianthus first.😂 😂

I grow several herbs to add to my bouquet. Every time I would give bouquets every one would smell them but most flowers don’t smell so I would put rosemary, mints, lemongrass to my bouquets

I think you'll really love anemones! I have found them way more heat tolerant than ranunculus and thus easier to grow in my hot south Texas climate. One question - so I've heard you mention now several times that y'all are only growing 15 varieties of flowers this year... I'm assuming that'd referring to type of flower (like tulip vs ranunculus) and not specific varieties like Amandine barby ranunculus, Amandine coral ranunculus, etc. Just curious! Happy Growing ❤

Yes! I am really excited to see our anemones. Yes 15 types then I do colors and sub varieties within but try to limit that as well.

Do you pretreat against fungus or mold while you soak? Is that even a thing? Looking to start planting in North Georgia in November!

We use Rootshield which helps with fungus. Can’t really treat for mold. Just have to be careful with watering

You just held up the bags the corms come in. These are great for soaking your corns in. No need to purchase mesh bags.

I did that tho? All the ones that came in mesh bags I could use but 70% of them came in paper bags…
