How To Plant Strawberry Runners! Strawberry mother plants send out runners as a reproductive strategy. These runners are akin to a tomato sucker and are a vegetative offshoot of the main plant that's trying to become a plant on its own. This is great and a fantastic way to expand your Strawberry patch for free! Propagating Strawberries from runners is the single easiest way to multiply a Strawberry population.
In this video I show you how I plant my Strawberry runners for maximum growth and success so that we can get new fruiting Strawberry mother plants within a single growing growing season! The only thing that beats free Strawberry plants is free Strawberry plants that start producing right away!

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms I've got a question about this. If they don't produce well after 5 years, what's the best thing to do? Are the runners from a 5 year old plant that's in decline, not going to produce much fruit the same way the parent plant does? Or is that 5 year decline sort of reset after the runner is rooted and an individual plant in its own right? Cheers, I didn't know that you need to be aware of the age of your strawberry plants 😮👍

I have watched several videos on planting strawberry runners. Although I've been growing for years, I never grew strawberries. This year, I bought a plant, and two weeks ago, planted the runners using YOUR method. 4 runners planted. The mother plant is still doing great and starting to produce strawberries, and the 4 runners planted are also doing great and growing as healthy young strawberry plants. Many thanks for this video and its information.

@@cheryl_jones It depends on the time of year that I take them. Early enough for them to grow all summer, for sure they can go in the ground. If I collect them late summer, then they go into pots and come indoors or into the greenhouse for the following year. :-)

Guyana South America! That is warm Islyn! Do you know what varieties are available for your climate? Be interesting to see what your local stores carry.
