I just bought a system to grow my herbs and thought it would be great to hear from someone who has done this for a while. I wanted to get started on my herbs a little earlier than in years past since I live in Colorado. You certainly answered a couple of initial questions I had. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I always thought this would be fun.

Great video! I just planted seeds in my Aerogarden for the first time but some that just started germinating are damping off. Others are doing well. Has this happened to you and how do you fix it? TFS!

Hi cami-mani! Thank you! I haven't had that issue personally. Are too many plants growing in 1 pod? Are the light settings correct and the amount of plant food/nutrients in the water? Those are a couple things that can cause seedlings to die. Also, improper conditions such as the area your garden is in could be too hot or too cold depending on the plant types. Sorry I couldn't be more help. It's hard to say since there could be many reasons.

Thank you for responding! I think perhaps it was too humid, so I placed a small fan near the growing seedling and hope it helps. I also sprinkled a tiny bit of cinnamon on the seedlings once they make an appearance. Thanks again! ❤

Hi! im brand new to this. how many seeds do you generally put into a pod to grow something? you put in two here. i imagine it varies, but i dont know how to tell. ill be growing mostly basic herbs. maybe some small tomatoes or peppers

Generally, it is recommended to put 2-3 seeds in each pod/planter, just in case only 1 sprouts. Most of the seeds I've purchased from seed companies have approximately 70% germination rates. So basically, every time I plant, I need to think there is a chance only 7 out of 10 will sprout. Usually, I have much better luck than that but I have had older seeds that only around 50% sprout. I have a video on separating seedlings if you end up with multiple healthy plants that sprout in one pod. Good luck planting! 🙂

when do you take the sprouting seed to groud and any specific way to plant them?

Hi Kathleen! Are you looking for easy transplanting? If so, I'd recommend starting your seeds in soil with a good grow light.

How deep do you need to put seeds in grow sponges?

You can just drop them in the hole if the sponge is pre-wet. If it is not, you want them far enough down that if you would need to wet the sponge from the top, the seed doesn't flow out. I can often shine a light on the sponge and see the seed and a tiny sprout in the hole. Hope this helps 😊

@@hydroponicprincess3256 Lol, wow… good guess. I appreciate the videos. Very helpful information. Looks like you took a break. Maybe time to make more? I’m curious why so many? I have one AeroGarden so far. I like it, but managing that many seems like a LOT.

@NewportSolar They do take some work to manage, anytime you have many hydroponic plants growing at once, it can get time consuming. I'm hoping to start adding content again over the next couple months now that things are settling down.
