Another mix of general stuff....and some things on bluebells that surprised me. Very busy right now so its hard to fill up a video with interesting content all the time. KZfaq have advised me to produce shorter more regular films to maximise ad revenue. However, I feel more comfortable with a decent sized episode people can dip in or out of.....but I will be guided by the viewers so will consider it over the next few weeks and take some soundings.
Best wishes to all......Malcolm

I agree with most of your other viewers Malcolm. The length is fine as the content is so enjoyable. I appreciate the time and effort put into these videos. I like your “droning” on and on! Keep up the good work! Greg

It would be lovely if you could show us a plant and how to propagate it. Last year You demonstrated crown bud propagation for delphiniums, although I have gardened for over 30 years I didn't know about this. You may recall I asked you why I had plenty of top growth but no roots...however since then I have repotted with good roots and they are now planted in the garden and so far growing well.......just waiting for the flowers. Your propagation demonstration showed detail, clarity and I was rather pleased it worked for me. More of this please, Graham, I trust your knowledge and love all the other contributors there, too. Best wishes Jill

Enjoyed today's episode, Tucker made me chuckle. Stones in the garden yep in Shap I have similar, garden enclosed by Drystone walls, but lots of others lurking beneath the grass (garden was a lambing paddock until we came along). May be visiting this 1/2 term the temptation to mention a loud radio is very strong but I'm too much the introvert, so won't. Fascinating and helpful regards the bluebells which I've always vaguely understood. But your simple illustrative explanation clarified things beautifully. Not sure I'd argue over a plant but taking from my basket could prove interesting lol Plenty of knob jokes, remember old Bill was a populist at heart albeit a 16thC populist, only time has made his work pompous. Look forward to next month's update. All the best Pete, in a gatden on a hill in Shap . Oh PS just to get a win for Shap my squirrels on the feeder are red haha

Thank you Tim. It is interesting. KZfaq have changed the ad settings....I suspect because the films seem to be getting a little more popular....and I don’t always know because once I’ve edited them I don’t watch them. I get sick of hearing myself drone on....and I sometimes have to go over and over the same footage to make sure it makes sense. I like to make some beer money from them, as they take a fair time to put together, but I never want the ads to become obtrusive.....once Sunniside is sorted with a new potting shed, the idea is to make growing plants easy, inexpensive, and fun to learn.....to take away some of the mystery, and visit some gardens etc....After September 26th I’ll have much more time. Best wishes....Malcolm

@@plantsmanscorner128 Thanks for the reply. The vids are pretty slick, especially considering that you don't review them after the edit! If you did a Patreon, you could earn some money outside of the fickle youtube ad system, although perhaps Patreon is fickle in its own way. I don't have any experience of Patreon myself, but I think it would also provide a forum for discussing content with fans and getting their thoughts and suggestions - although perhaps that is a Pandora's Box!! It was your tutorials that originally brought the channel to my attention, so I would enjoy some more of them - perhaps they could be slotted into your bi-weekly 'story' vids, in much the same way as the trip to Barthelemey's is a established segment? Anyway, not my place to say 'do this' or 'do that'; I just hope it doesn't get too tedious for you and if your vids appear in my feed every week to two, then I'll be happy!

Great video, lots of variety and a wonderful overview. If Thomas had been working in somebody else's garden, the owner would have a right to complain about a radio as I have done: but in all that space belonging to someone else - that man was wrong. What a worker 'young' Thomas! PS It's nice to see short regular videos, but this one is good.

I bought a black lace elder about 5 years ago. It did great for the first 3 years. I really liked it, great colours, and I kept pruning it in spring to keep from getting too big. However last year it had died back alot after winter and this year it completely died back to the ground. I thought maybe voles had attacked the roots, but I read they normally only eat the berries and such. It was in full sun and in good soil with compost added. I'm still wondering why it died back. I will replace though, because of the great colour from both the leaves and blossoms. And it's very affordable.

I rather like MacDonalds, but always seem to get some snotty faced child peering at me from the next seat......I don’t much like children but they seem to gravitate to me....it’s really annoying, they just seem to ignore grumpiness. Anyway, I’m digressing. You are quite right Tessa....I don’t think it would work actually as I seem increasingly prone to meander along....One of the greatest influences on my life apart from Geoffrey Smith was a bloke called Jack Hargreaves.....he made a programme called Out of Town.....I always liked of his style of presentation because it was unhurried and relaxed......I’ve tried to do some quick fire fact based smiley smiley sequences.....and to be honest it looks and feels ridiculous. The good thing is I’m sure there are plenty of videos out there for those that like that style. I just can’t do it. Also it feels contrived.....in all the years we’ve been doing these I don’t think there’s ever been anything reshot....it’s always been one take, by whoever’s handy at the time, and if you bollocks it up that goes in as well....or just gets cut out. There’s simply too much to do running the nurseries than fart about repeating things......so I think they’ll have to stay long......KZfaq like putting start and end ads on....we only have one of each I suppose. It’s also nice to feel a personal relationship with our viewers.....they know us now and if it’s too professional it just (to me) feels less human so consequently less personal. I hope that makes some sense. Best wishes and thank you for your comment. Malcolm

@plantsmanscorner128
@plantsmanscorner128 3 жыл бұрын
If you mean Monkshood Linda.....aconitum species.....then yes. Though I never worry as I don’t eat it.....It’s a beautiful plant. But if you have small children about or anyone else who might, then possibly not. I’ve always been of the opinion education is best....but that’s easy for those of us from very rural upbringings to say. But....just to turn the screw a bit more it is one of the deadliest poisons. I guess it’s a decision you have to make as to who might possibly ingest it......I’ve never known a dog or cat, and I’ve had lots, eat it.....but you can guarantee there will be someone somewhere that does or knows someone who did.....I’ve had it in my garden for 50 years but lots of nurseries and garden centres refuse to sell it..... I do not know where that philosophy ends really. There was a woman in my village when I was a child who knocked off her old man with it.Best wishes....Malcolm
