I want to use more shield soldiers in my later level mods and some carcasses to increase my use of heat blast. (I also reduced the charge requirement to 15 as you probably know). In vanilla missions of the campaign, I never feel like switching to the plasma rifle at all, to be honest specially after arc complex. I think shield soldiers and carcasses are good options to encourage the use of this weapon without taking away any player options. I also found out that charging soldier shields without plasma based ammo and then finishing the off with the plasma rifle can save a bit of time compared to using plasma rifle only. I never thought of it that way before.

my use is to damage a super heavy demon near death and beam it for a free large ass explosion. pretty useful for encounters with a lot of fodders. in conclusion piss beam is epic 😳👍

Same, heat blast was so powerful in 2016 with its continuous heating. I'm annoyed they got rid of it. Imagine if they kept it and had the power surge mastery along with it. It would be so OP and even outshine the Meme beam.

@@Dondlo46 true, true. I just feel like the Plasma Rifle is so underrated and forgotten by many (myself included). I use literally all the weapons on Nightmare difficulty enemies except the Plasma Rifle. Which I only use on shield guys, spirits and fodder when I need health via a glory kill and that really shouldn't be the case as its such a fantastic and unique weapon. If the heat blast was more powerful maybe then it would be good against heavies and super heavies and not just fodder demons.

Maybe it is more ammo efficient, but more often I run out of cells, because of the ballista, then bullets.

@@LiberatedMind1 is that so? I've asked a couple of PC players whilst streaming and they claimed to not know what I was talking about, so I assumed it was a controller only thing. It's inappropriate either way for such a low damage weapon. I'm the only person I've seen who's mentioned it and you're the first person to acknowledge it. I posted about it on both the subreddit and doomworld, too.

@@LiberatedMind1 believe me, I suspected that at first but it's definitely the case - on controller, on console. It's not a major issue, but it's just wholly unnecessary. I understand such a mechanic on a powerful hitscan weapon like the chaingun but plasma aint even hitscan lol

I don't know if that's true but i've heard that if you kill a demon that is near another demon (an imp near another imp for example) with the plasma rifle normal fire mode the energy will transmit to the other demons as soon as the first dies, have you ever tested this out?
