What I had in modified my DHC Z z-axis for great Improvement at least until I can come up with something better..

Also, I ended up taking the inner rotor and lathing it down.. Turns out the rotors often rub on the inside of the can. makes a WORLD of difference! The Z axis works just fine now. Basically the rotor rubs inside and jams. You lose some torque but it spins so much more freely it doesn't matter.

So the motor is a can stack motor with a very high coil resistance which was likely custom made for this application which makes it VERY difficult to replace and pretty much gives Plasm@c@m the ability to have a monopoly. These canstack motors were made with horrible internal tolerances which likely was not the fault of the manufacturer however the result is the same. Contact me if you want me to rework your can stepper to something that will actually function. There are a handful of tricks available to make them run correctly.
