It travelled billions of miles, only to crash onto the surface of this planet. But what's most remarkable about this chunk of iron - is what it likely was once a part of. The story of this meteorite is much richer than you'd ever imagine. #Meteorite #discovery

Epic Jay; I own a small Meteorite and made it into a Pendant. To wear something from the Asteroid belt around your neck feels unique. Ok it’s hardly an item of beauty, but it certainly is a talking point when people ask what your wearing. Another great video. Thank you. Keep safe, Rog from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍💯

Jay, it was bought from the Aerolite company, I have the paperwork somewhere. I do own a box of Tektites I got in Prague and they landed there. In the shop they had an Iron Green one 39 grams but it was €370. Saving up for that one. Mainly though, because of my interest in chemistry I collect precious gem stones. Keep safe dude. There are actually (3) main types / categories of meteorites. Stony, Iron, and Stony Iron. The stony iron meteorites consist of approximately 9% of meteorites found. Stony irons aka Pallasite meteorites are primarily a mix of metal with olivine crystals in them. Look up Admire or Sericho meteorites to see examples.

@@PlasmaChannel Yes, at least where i live there are a few rumours about "cosmic stones" bouncing on the sea and landing on island shores, but i am not sure if meteorites realy do hit the surface of earth in such sharp angle, at least from i hawe been tould usualy the angle does not realy differ more than about 10 degrees. Bu i don't know for sure if it would still be a possibility, however i find it very unlikly that those where meteorites if those stories realy are true and there are no volcanic activity whatsoever (at least not during the era of man) in those areas as far as i know.

It simply is not good enough to say "sorry we messed up, you will have to re-upload". Not to much of an issue if you only do one video a week but when you do 5 a day and they don't tell you which ones they messed up leaving you have to check each one. You know what I always find very fascinating about stars? Well let me tell you. When when a star casts light, this light will travel at a speed of 300 000 km/second. The light of our sun for instance need to travel for about 8 min to reach our planet. When we see that light, we actually look in the past of how the sun looks like 8 minutes ago. But oke, so what about a star that is several millions of lightyears away? When we see the light of those stars, we see a star that was severel millions of years younger. And maybe that star has turned into a supernova and the star doesn't excist anymore. But still we are seeing the remaining light emmitted by the star a long long time ago. When we look in the sky, we are always looking in the past. The sky is actually one big virtual time machine.

Isn't the inner core only solid because of pressure, though? 🤔
@notadaytrader
@notadaytrader Жыл бұрын
The inner core likely isn’t solid. It’s Liquid Metal. Though if exposed to hundreds of millions of years cooling in space, it would look a lot like these iron meteorites. That is of course entirely speculation, as we have never seen the core of any planet, and we learn about the core through things like this. So they’re all assumption based on good evidence and speculation.

The Ni-Fe content of most iron meteorites matches mantle and core mixtures that are predicted. Definitely could be from congregated star dust, however, planetary bodies differentiate materials based on density. So, if this was startdust solely, you'd expect a full array of elements in it. It is really only made up of 4-5 elements, indicated differentiation and thus being a part of a large body.

Plasma Channel I did obviously. Taking frequency readings of the earth’s crust is subjective. The conclusions are based on assumption. There’s no way to sample the mantle or recreate it, so there is not a real model or any proof of its existence.

I just weighted my meteorite, it is not 4-5 times larger than yours, it's only about 2 times. It weight about 790g. If it costs 50 cents per gram, it worth US$ 395.

@@PlasmaChannel Sure, what's your email address? I will send it tomorrow, it's about time to sleep, 'coz I am on the other side of the world. :) I also have an idea see if you are interested to work on, using your "plasma generator" or Tesla coil. It could be very dangerous and may explode (seriously) if handle incorrectly. But I think it is exciting. I am not sure how this idea came to my mind. Let me take some time to digest it and discuss with you later.

I heard the farthest anyone has ever drilled into the earth is 8 miles by the Russians and that we dont really know what is in the bottom of the earth if there is a bottom.

Not 2, but 3 classes of meteorites. Stoney, iron and stoney iron. Stoney iron being the most expensive of the 3 called a pallasite. I'm not sure how you could've left that out of* your video.
