Exactly! Plastic Bassoons can serve the purpose of playing, but they are just not the best. and your example is perfect! LOL

Yeah that was my bad. This was a year ago when i was little careless with my fact checking haha. It is actually the model 3 and 4 that are the plastic professional bassoons. Yes the 2 is the OG and made of maple wood. Thank you for the correction. Funny story my friend got a fox model 2 on craigslist for 1k, so that is a bassoon that is always on my mind on where you can find em and for what price.

So they have the Fox plastic bassoons ( I believe its the model 2 and 3) with the high D. They also have Fox 222 with High D keys that runs for a decent price. You can find those on ebay for a good price. Make sure they say Fox Renard 222. Or you could get a new one from a instrument distributor. The 222 is made of maple wood so it is a nicely priced bassoon that can do the job of getting that nice tone quality. Thats my recommendation. There are Shreiber bassoons that compete agaisnt Fox bassoon. They also have bassoons with the high D key for a decent price. However I have too little experience to recomend you get it. There are black wooden bassoons. Many of them are older but you can come across them. From my experience, I have only seen Puchner and Heckel black wooden bassoons. I am sure there are other brands that make them black. You will have to do some research because I do not see many new bassoons made like that. Most will be older as I mentioned before.
