Wooden coins don't bounce back hard when they hit the borders. Plastic coins have much more rebound which is not suitable. Also plastic is harder than wood, so in the long run the plastic coins scratch the ply surface while the wooden coins don't scratch the playing surface and the carrom board lasts longer.

You should try to play with wooden coins because in tournaments wooden coins are used then you have the scope of playing in tournaments👍👍👍
