The vibe of these videos is becoming more and more like those "get rich quick", "earn 10k a moth with this easy trick", "5 tips that will change your world" clickbaity videos with no content. Nikita has made a lot of good content, but it's sad to see where it's going right now.

With all do respect - what a 3D modeling software can do and not really defines it use. And yes plasticity had many cool abilities but to consider it replacing apps like SW or Rhino shows me that you have a narrow view of the industry or understanding how diverse 3D modeling is.

I cannot agree more, even didn't had the nerve to watch it all. Industrial design is not making fancy shapes fast, it's so much more. That's the reason the other softwares are needing a lot of different tools. Yes it's a slower process, but at the end you have a control over the shape.

Like many others, I'm new to Plasticity and I love it. Dropping a few bucks on a Studio license was a no-brainer after trying it out for a while. I consider it a really great extension... almost a plugin to Blender (with the excellent Blender bridge). I really hope Nikita is reading the comments and hearing the message. These confrontational, algorithmic, clickbait titles and thumbnails are a surefire way to lose the audience you WANT as a "creator" in the Plasticity community. Unless.... what you REALLY want is ANY user, for whatever reason clicking through. Throwing Blender under the bus-Blender, the FREE(!) for all software-that just keeps delivering across SO MANY disciplines is a huge mistake. And by the way: don't throw any other software under the bus either.... Just keep being enthusiastic, elevate your own skills instead and take the time to make thought-through (scripted) tutorials that showcase proper workflows.

He does not really now the rest or workflows otherwise he would not make wish silly comments. Plasticity is a top software but not a replacement for what rhino or Alias can do but also costs a fraction. Specifically the blender brigde is amazing. Anyway plasticity as I know was made for artists and not industrial design people. Can it make drawings stress test components and and and ?

Nikita: There are several reasons why it's so difficult to compare Plasticity with established, historically significant industry standard programs. Established 3D design software often includes a wide range of advanced features and specialized tools that enable users to create highly detailed models and perform complex editing operations. While cheap design software may lack these features or offer simplified versions of them. The big guys programs are often well-optimized and provide high performance and better stability compared to newer software. Cheap design software may encounter performance or stability issues, affecting user experience and effectiveness. On the other hand the Integration with professional work environment cheap software cannot offer such a thing comparing to Autocad or solidworks etc etc. Plasticity may meet the needs of individuals with limited budgets or simple requirements, but may not be suitable for professionals or large, complex projects that require advanced tools and features, and high stability.

Comparing Plasticity with Solidworks is nonsense. Plasticity uses the parasolid core that is in CAD systems, but there is a complete lack of parametric data, so this software is suitable for design, but it is not suitable for prototyping or creating parts or assembly models for production. I was working on a robotic head in Solidworks, where it was necessary to do three different iterations, and it only took a few parameter changes. To do the same in plasticity would mean a lot of manual work with shapes. Each software has a different focus and therefore they do not compete with each other in any way. Solidworks is also used for product design, but mostly in conjunction with other things, such as connecting to electronics, etc., or performing technical analysis, and all of that just doesn't do plasticity, and that's not its purpose. So no, Plasticity wins only where it has to show a model independent of exact dimensions, so typically visualizations.

I think the export mesh options on it leave a bit to be desired.. I am never able to export a piece that the mesh is clean/smooth.. symmetrical... specially on shapes like a big vase.. rounded parts. Maybe a tutorial on how to export a parametric cad plasticity file.. import into another software that had better options for transformation into a mesh.. rhino or solidworks?

I'm fed up with polygon software. Started with affordable Modo Luxology, then Modo was acquired by The Foundry and went up drastically, and in the last few years only by a subscription option. Many bugs, and complexity which I honestly hate. I tried Blender, but the interface and learning curve again is a wast of time,. By being graphic designer I need fast, affordable, simple and effective tool just few times per year. I do not specialize in 3D, but occasionally I simply like to present packaging, organic shapes and renderings.

I would say the end of Rhino, NX, Catia, Alias and all programs developed for 30 years by teams of engineers... Plasticity is a great piece of software, but it's a baby. Currently it's a tool which can't replace parametric cad-cam programs, it's a Swiss knife. This software can be combined with Rhino or Solidworks but it can't live alone. All modeling tutorials that You demonstrate in this channel can be modeled faster and better with Rhinoceros with more controls over dimensioning. They can be printed and rendered replacing totally Autocad or old school cad/illustration programs. If you hate thousands of commands, scripts, python or other esoteric combination of modeling techniques then you will stick to a single workflow.
@choicesii1
@choicesii1 4 ай бұрын
CAD is not a replacement for polygonal modeling. Besides, you can pretty much do everything in blender that you find in plasticity with the exception of simple face selections, which you can also find a way around that with marking seams or sharps. With add-ons blender has interpolating faces from fill. Blender has a whole lot of functionality. It literally is every software with just some of the more advanced features missing in each program. Blender can be 3D coat, Zbrush, Gravity Sketch, CAD, Nuke, etc..

I have seen a lot in my career in case of CAD and modeling Software and tested nearby all. Plasticity has it´s right to exist but it will not replace a CAD Modeling software and it will not replace blender and don´t even talk about Rhino. This software is here and did something better than MODO for example but thats it. I am working a lot with Plasticity but when it comes to a production environment when you need to construction models and drawings this is the wrong tool.

the purpose is the same, and that's getting a high quality 3D model i think it is only logical to use whichever is the easiest in this case plasticity is cool if you're referring to edge flow and topology i think that it only matters for organic models for animation otherwise if you intend to use hard surface models you can animate awesome shots without the need to topology nor edge flow so CAD and poly-gon modeling are two comparable workflows and for this case CAD is superior

That said, Plasticity Indie is a capable program, but it's so frustrating not to have a complete portfolio of features.
