Plate Bearing Testing

The plate bearing test carried out in the UK. This test is used to measure settlement of soil, earthworks, ground, pile mats, crane pads and other construction and geotechnical materials under known stresses. Useful for foundation design, road design and checking suitability of materials under load. The test can also be used to measure and calculate an equivalent CBR value.

CBR (%)= 6.1 × 10^-8 × (k762)^1.733 where k762 is the Modulus of Subgrade Reaction, defined as the applied pressure under the loading platen divided by the displacement (normally 1.25mm) with a plate of 762mm (30 inch) diameter. The Modulus of Subgrade Reaction for other plate sizes can be determined using an appropriate conversion factor

Suppose you use a 400mm plate, the measured k is 40, the conversion factor is about 0.6. Does that mean the K762 is 40*0.6=24.

Hi, interesting video. The vehicle you use is sprung. So how can you be sure what the load is?

there are many-weighing balance to measure the weight of the vehicle and its material together....but out point it to check the load from the loading gauge which is shown in the video and monitor at 5, 10,15, so on up to 100kN.
