PS, we reset the unit just before the broadcast so Tom's guitar peaked a few times on us because his input was too hot. Sorry about that.

Hi Eli, No, Play Electric doesn't do anti-feedback (which is not automatic btw, just some settings available) but that's because feedback on electric is sometimes desirable. If it's huge feedback because of gigantic gain, people often use a feedback suppression pedal. (thinking super-distorted metal etc.)

Hi Jess, for some reason I can't reply directly on your comment. Maybe because it's linked. Anywhoo, The loopers are largely the same. They're a single, stereo track that allows you to record, overdub and play back. For big changes in the loopers, like more tracks etc. you'd need to look at VoiceLive Touch 2 or VoiceLive 3.

Hi guys! First of all congratulations for your products. Amazing! I have a little question.. Can i use the TC-Helicon Play Acoustic as a TC-Helicon Live Play? I mean even without guitar? He has implemented built-in microphones for automatic pitch detection, etc..? For the song when i not use the guitar. Thanks so much :)
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 7 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Sure can. Each preset has the ability to have its key/scale saved manually or you can use the RoomSense mics. The only caveat is that if you do plug in a guitar it'll always take precedence over the room mics. It won't override a key/scale you saved to the preset though.
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 7 жыл бұрын
IMHO setting the key/scale manually and saving the preset for the songs you don't play guitar on will be more accurate than using the mics.

Hey guys great upload I found it very informative. I love the product. The only thing i didn't see much of was the loop function. I am trying to loop more than one track. Such as a rhythm track, drum beat with my guitar, and then sing to that as I play lead guitar on stage. Is that possible with the Play Acoustic or will it only loop one track at a time? If not can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 9 жыл бұрын
Kale Shelton Hi Kale, the Play Acoustic looper is one stereo (or mono if you choose) track but you can overdub as many times as you want. So, you can build up your performance layer by layer. Undo removes the most recently recorded layer, so if you want a big effect, you can do multiple "passes" of an overdub, adding several parts, then undo them all simultaneously.

what i wanted to ask is the volume which is on guitar not on the pedal and also guitars system. for example i have taylor which has expression system on. where do i set guitars volume and lows and highs?(not the pedals) Also when i do gigs with voicelive acoustic is it ok to close guitars hole with feedback buster?
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Stelios, you can set your onboard guitar volume to max. I'd leave any EQ controls on the guitar itself flat. You can definitely use a feedback buster if you like. I'd probably try the Anti-Feedback options in the Play Acoustic itself first though, since you can be more precise than the more "cover it all up" approach of the feedback buster.

Farhan Kamsani Nope, won't affect things at all. As long as you use TRS on the 1/4" end you'll be fine. Don't use XLR to TS (guitar cable). You need the one that looks like this: www.disasterareaamps.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/trs-trs.jpeg

You guys are amazing I will look for the update. also, I use a tc helicon t1 for compression on vocals at the start of my chain. Is this unnecessary if I now have the play acoustic I don't know how to shut the adaptive turn off on the play. However if I am using the t1 unnecessarily then just let me know because I think they are competing in making my vocal sound thin bc of doubling the adaptive tone.
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 9 жыл бұрын
Ryan Cohen Yeah, you don't want to double up on Tone. Personally, I'd ditch the T1 since Tone is in the Play Acoustic, but the T1 does have a bit more ability to "dial in" if you're not using the "all knobs at 12 O'Clock" setting. First, try it without the T1 attached and see if you like it. The Tone settings in P.A. are in the SETUP --> Input screen and you can select from several styles, so make sure to try a few if "Normal" isn't jiving for you. If all of the Tone options in P.A. aren't working how you want, then select OFF from the list and connect the T1.

I bought PlayAcoustic today, but I have two specific doubts: 1-) Is there Flashback Delay, available for acoustic guitars? Or, just and only, are there delays available for acoustic guitars, or some way to lower the delays? On the site, if I remember correctly, there is the "Flashback" icon, as available for the instruments ... 2-) also use a Boss RC3 Loop Station. Is there a way to connect the RC3 AFTER Play Acoustic, to take advantage of the loops already "worked" by BodyRez? My chain will now look like this: Martin D16> Boss GE7> Play Acoustic> RC3> Yamaha EMX312SC - Yamaha Club Series (speaker) What worries me now is the confirmation (or not) of the delays for the acoustic guitars ;-) Thank you, a hug!
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcelo, 1) We borrowed the algorithm for FlashBack from TC-Electronic and it's been added to the product. Make sure you update via VoiceSupport - www.tc-helicon.com/products/voicesupport/ We've added per-preset guitar effects AND doubled the loop time in the most recent update. 2) Yep, you can run the output of the guitar, vocals or both (depending on Play Acoustic's output mode) right into the RC3. Just be sure to watch your gain staging. This video explains it. Treat the RC3 as the mixer/PA in the video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9dgdLKlxsytmqc.html

Dear TC Helicon, I would like to buy this product but I'm not sure if I can use my wireless in-ear monitoring system with it? Is it possible to send an aux signal to my IEM transmitter? If yes, how? Many thanks for your response!
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 8 жыл бұрын
+Péter Kiss Yep sure. You can send the headphone output from the TC-H unit to the transmitter and it should work just fine. If you want to have "the rest of the band" via an Aux mix, you can send that to the 1/8" Aux input, then set the Aux to Main Out parm to OFF so that the Aux only gets sent to the headphone output. That way, you can balance the incoming Aux mix with the guitar/vocal from the unit and send that to the IEM's, effectively giving you a "more me" type monitor mix. Hope that helps!

I recently got the play acoustic. I've a few questions. 1. Can you adjust the loop length. It seems short. 2. As the xlr outputs are shown as guitar and vox it seems weird that the guitar bleeds into the vox channel when running through a desk. This can cause all sort of issues. 3. The notch filter. Please do a video on this.
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 9 жыл бұрын
Hi Eli, 1. The loop length can only be varied by the output level and whether UNDO is available or not (in the setup menu looper tab). You get 15s stereo with undo. 30s stereo without undo. 30s in mono with undo. 60s in mono without undo. 2. It's all going to depend on your mic position relative to the guitar. If you have a cardiod or hypercardiod mic you can place the rejection zone so that the guitar bleed is minimized. It's very mic/room/position dependent. 3. Maybe we can get Craig to do a Craig's Corner on it :)

Thanks a lot. This helps a lot. I'm quite old school and up to now (over 20 years professional) did not use any effects pedals. A friend gave me this to try and I've used it at 4 gigs around continental Europe. I'm finally getting the harmony levels set nice without sounding like an artificial idiot on stage. I'm normally not a pedal man as I feel it kills a real performance vibe and the performer loses their feel. Don't get me wrong. I'm a studio engineer and former avionics engineer so tech is easy for me ;) I'm going to keep using this to get it so it is an extension of my performance. Many thanks

The differences between Play Acoustic and VL3 are too many to list, but for looping, yes there's one stereo track in Play Acoustic. You can overdub as many times as you like though, so it's definitely possible to create complex loops. VL3 does have 3 separate tracks, A, B and C, with A/B or A/C being playable at the same time.

@tchelicon
@tchelicon 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Ron, Hmm tough call. Play Acoustic will offer you BodyRez (which we feel is a substantial improvement) and you'll get hundreds of presets and more vocal effects. That said, if you don't feel you need more presets or vocal effects, Harmony G-XT is a totally solid product. We're always pumped about our new gear, but also don't ever want our customers to buy something they don't need. Here's a suggestion: When Play Acoustic is out, buy one and try it out for a week. Dealers will take stuff back within whatever their "return policy" window is, so you can try it with no risk. Just be sure to find out the exact policy for your dealer. If you like it, awesome. If you don't, no harm no foul.

A pedal like the Boss AC-3 (Acoustic Simulator) enhances an acoustic guitar in a similar way and it's absolutely awesome (even though it is designed for electric). Around $50 on an auction site. I love TC-H and I've bought A LOT of TC-H gear but I think it is dishonest to recommend buying to "try out" and taking back. The retailer will lose money; they will have to restock and if they are honest they will sell it as an "open box" (some will sell back as "new" which is not fair to the buyer either. Not a really recommendation in my humble opinion.

Can we trigger the vocal harmonies with a auto bass portable keyboard, as in a one man show thing, with the drum, bass, accompaniment, live singing? cause I plugged it in place of the guitar and it (keyboard)sounds real bad. You'd want to connect something like that to the AUX input, which won't go through the guitar effects. As long as there's clear chord information in the AUX signal, we can use that for key/scale with the harmonies.

The second question is, can I use the play acoustic as vocal processor while I'm gigging with electric guitar? I don't need guitar effect as I go through my fav amp. I hope you can help answering this. Thank you! Great company + great support!

@tchelicon 8 жыл бұрын
+Eli Joseph Doummar Hi Eli, I'm so sorry to hear somebody stole your Play Electric!! Karma will come around ;) Play Acoustic should work well on 12 string. The goal of Bodyrez is to take the "quack" frequencies away and should still do a good job with 12 vs. 6 strings. Since Play Acoustic doesn't haven an In/Thru you might want to use an A/B/Y splitter in Y mode to send the signal to both your electric setup and the Play Acoustic. You'd then want to turn the guitar mix to OFF in Play Acoustic to prevent signals coming out with your vocals.

Hi guys, I've just purchased this beautiful toy, and I'm very happy with the quality and all the functions it has, TC Helicon rules!!!! I have just a question: I still have an old Boss RC 2 Loop Station, and the most important feature of that pedal, to me, is the automatic start of the looper when you hit the first note on the guitar, more precise than the manual start. Can we hope to have this important feature in a next firmware release, or it's not possible due the hardware?? Thank you!!!!
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 9 жыл бұрын
Costantino Di Santo That will not be possible with this unit for two reasons. First, we don't have that technology developed and the Play Acoustic specifically doesn't have our more sophisticated looper that would take advantage of it. If anything, we'd likely put audio record detection into a VoiceLive 3 and/or Touch 2 if we develop it. I'd guess it'll be in a "future product" though rather than anything current.

what do you mean by portamento and humanization. I have the gtx, should i upgrade to play electric?
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 10 жыл бұрын
Daniel Sissa Portamento is "slide" from note to note. It helps the voices to sound a bit more like they're coming "up to" or "down to" the note, rather than moving a bit more rigid in the movements.Humanization adds a bit of "error" into the voices, so they are timed/pitched slightly variably. It gives a bit more sense that it's "real people" singing. All that said, the best thing you can do for any harmony effect is use it nicely blended under your lead voice. That makes things sound much more natural. From there, I definitely wouldn't make Human/Porta a reason solely to buy Play Electric. I'd be much more swayed by the improved guitar sounds, but that's just me.

It gives an idea of what type of output harmony you'll get based on the input "lead" note.support.tc-helicon.com/entries/21051886-Scale-chart-for-TC-Helicon-products Keep in mind that our Maj 1, 2, 3 and Minor 1, 2, 3 aren't "modes" or anything that you'd pull from other theory. Each harmony output has to be specifically designated in our scales so think of ours as "versions" of a Major or Minor scale. You try one and if you find a "bad" note (one that's either wrong or that you don't like) try another.

Hi guys, Thank you for the release. Do we need an external sound card with the play acoustic or can we connect it directly to the computer to record songs in good quality? I wanted to buy some voicetone pedals (R1, H1, D1, T1) but I saw your release of the Play Acoustic pedal and now I'm hesitating. I find vocal effects better in the play acoustic than in voicetone pedals. It sounds more natural (Especially doubling voices and harmonies) and less "Country tone". Yeah when I watched all the releases and demo of voicetone D1 and H1 I was guessing why it sounds so "Country". I play Rock, Indie and Folk songs so I don't want a country tone. Do you think the play acoustic is better for rock, folk and Indie? Thank you, Keep going you rock! Nina
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 10 жыл бұрын
Nina Weiss Hi Nina, the Play Acoustic can connect via USB to your computer. You can record audio in stereo out of it. It's set up in such a way that you can stream audio (tracks) from your computer, listen in your headphones and sing/play along, and capture what you sing/play back to your computer. Then, you'd mix the music track in with your performance.

A question about the looper: You didn't use the harmony until the overdub, is it possible to use it on the first loop? Also, can you use multiple vocal effects at once?
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Swenson! Yes, it is totally possible to use the harmony on the first loop. You can also use multiple effects at once by setting which ever effects you want to the "Hit" function. If you don't want them all at the same time, you can either switch between different presets during the song, or you can add a Switch 3 or Switch 6 to help with triggers of both the effects and/or the looper! Thanks for singing with us!

Hi, Have been having a lot of success and joy with the play gtx vocally am thoroughly enjoying the pedal thanks for making a great piece of gear. However guitar wise I have some problems to solve. I use a classical and the guitar sound is degraded substantially on the play gtx, so was excited to see this product. However the per-preset guitar effect is great but the play acoustic has taken this away? Does that mean the guitar is always the same regardless of changing the bank? So no adjustment possible for a chorus, and no volume boost by shifting up a bank? No complimenting the different vocal effect for a different style of music or song? Has this model fixed the lag that the play gtx had? Does the body res effect have a setting for nylon string or is it designed only for steel string? I saw on the website the delay has been taken away from the guitar effects, I thought that was a useful effect for acoustic? It is for me. Can you please design a "play acoustic" without erasing the positives of the GTX but instead erase the negatives or inappropriate for acoustic such as distortion, lag, amp models, diminishing of sustain, and poor raw sound quality. I'd be more than happy to pay more money to have the guitar side of the pedal more effective, as it's much more convenient to use one pedal instead of 2. And saves the cost of the second pedal as well, and saves space and improves the portability of a set up.
@tchelicon

Anton Marschke You're correct that guitar effects are global on Play Acoustic. The idea behind this product is that a really nice acoustic guitar sound can be the staple of your show, without changing effects every song. It's a bit of a different beast than an electric performance. That said, you can use Switch3 to turn on/off the Chorus, Verb etc. and have some direct control from song to song.Every processor has some latency. It's under 10ms in both Play A and Play GTX. (a bit less in Play A iirc). The distance you stand from your speakers will add 1ms per foot in both directions, so that's always a factor. We've been very happy with the community response to Play Acoustic. It might be worth trying to see if you like it too!Thanks for all the feedback :)

Are there any new features compared to VoiceLive Play that would be useful for someone who would use those units just to perform as a singer? In my case, I would not use the unit along with an eletric or an acoustic guitar. But who knows... maybe there's something in this more recent product that could be very handy, a wishful feature that could be lacking in VoiceLive Play.
@tchelicon

vmzaneti The vocal sections of VoiceLive Play and Play Acoustic are identical. The one small change is that there's a Humanization and Portamento control in Play Acoustic's advanced Harmony menu. It can be useful, but I wouldn't sell a VLP in favor of a Play Acoustic just for that.

Hey guys I know I'm late to this video, but does it follow the key your guitar 🎸 is played? Also , does it help balance your voice like auto tune & very familiar with the quack lol Thsnks
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 7 жыл бұрын
Yep, we do chord detection on the guitar and lead vocal. That gives us the info we need to create harmony. There are two types of pitch correction. One is a more "global" auto-chromatic correction that you can leave on all the time. It's intended to be pretty transparent, but doesn't "autotune" to any key or scale. it just guides you to the nearest semitone, even if that semitone doesn't work with the music. The HardTune effect block is more the autotune sound that restricts you to a specific key and scale. There are a few variants of that effect. HardTune will override Chromatic pitch correction temporarily when it's on.

I was the singer & never set up the gear. Can you give me a basic run down what I would need to buy for super easy set up in bars/cafe/ outside? I already have the guitar 🎸 with the ability to plug in? Also when I found it on amazon it try to give ma bundle package with a mic & looks to be additional switch board with three extra switches. Kind confused I'm sorry, I really & so ready to start performing again & Im alone this time, but I knew when I found your product it was going to give me that ability I needed to perform my show solo. Aaron Chadwick Play Acoustic doesn't have Echo/Delay. You'd need a VoiceLive 3 to get both the BodyRez sounds and Delay/Echo. If you also use electric guitar, Play Electric might suit you. It's got delay and does have an "Acoustic Shaped" amp style that is pretty close to our "BodyRez1" style from Play Acoustic.

And that is suppose to be viewed as a good thing? I for one want to be able to turn the unit off from the unit itself, not by unplugging it like a toaster or turning it off via of a surge protector. I view this as a very poor design with little or no regard for your customers point of view. Every time I want to use I have to come into my recording room, bend over to the floor and turn on the surge protector that I have it plugged into. I guess answering my question by starting out with "Yep" ought to be my first clue of the intelligence behind the design of the unit.

I Just bought the VLGTX, 3 weeks ago, didn´t realize that acoustic guitars sounds pretty weird i finally had to do my own presets. you should add some of the Acoustic Presets of VLPA to, use it on GTX, or just a Firmware Upgrade, Because i think that most of VLGTX owners really use Acoustics. Bring it on ! besides it would be great if you just add more acoustic presets on GTX. also would be great to add an upgrade to VLGTX for VLOOP to use Looping Layers cause well with the switch 3 would be a great idea to use in that kind of looping, i know is not a looping box, but as an extra would be great!!!
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Edson, we're not able to replicate the BodyRez sounds in Play GTX because Play Acoustic uses a different guitar algorithm. Layered looping isn't a possibility on that product either, nor on Play Acoustic. You'd need to jump into VL3 land for that. We do plan to bring BodyRez to VL3 in some form or another.

Hi guys. First of all, I don't agree, that acoustic guitar does not sound good when you plug it in PA system :) It's depend what clas guitar and PA we have got. My sound lovely , but I bought Play acoustic and its on my way :) The reason is voice reverb and harmonies. And now the question is : Are reverb and pitch correction on the same quality like R1 unit? And is it possible to turn only clear reverb on guitar and clear reverb on vocal at the same time? No other staff and then by hit button turn on harmonies? Thenks for answer up front:) Best regards . But i am so sick of this QUACKY! dam guitar sound drives me nuts! I knew it just wasn't me. I came across this box when i was looking for a acoustic guitar effects box. Or do you guys have something like that already?
@tchelicon
@tchelicon 9 жыл бұрын
Cameron Cook Play Acoustic is the simpler of the pedals we have with BodyRez. Up from that is VoiceLive 3 and it'd be daunting for sure based on your comments. It's tough to say about Play Acoustic's complexity. If you just plug it in and use the preset up/down and HIT buttons, you'd probably find that it's really easy. From there, getting into editing etc. is a fairly easy jump since there's not a lot of parameters to get lost in. I'd say go for it and return the pedal if you don't like it after a week or so.

The Captain's Old Dog Yes, that's correct. The guitar effects are global (one sound across all presets) and the vocal sounds/effects can change per preset, in addition to having an additive HIT effect. Then, you can run the unit in Dual Mono (default) with guitar out one output and vocals out the other, or Stereo which sends a stereo mix of both instrument/vocals.

kevin gardiner Play GTX offered sounds for both acoustic and electric. The new Play Electric does that too. We'd consider Play Electric more of the "GTX 2" than Play Acoustic. @tchelicon
@tchelicon 9 жыл бұрын
thetiler It really depends on what you consider authentic. All the harmony voices are created from your own, so there's only a certain amount of pushing the pitch etc. that we can do. What seems to help is the level of the harmony voices relative to your own. The more you blend them in subtlely, the better it sounds. If you crank things up, you'll start to sound less realistic.

Lev Marchenko In most cases an acoustic guitar player and singer plugs a guitar/mic directly into the PA and might get a little reverb if they're lucky. Of course, some people's rigs are far more complex, but our vision for solving the "problem" mentioned above is/was to give great vocal effects per song and "a really solid acoustic guitar sound" that's better than anything they'd get going straight into the PA. We feel we hit that vision very well with this product. There are other offerings, like VoiceLive 3 that allow you far more control over everything in the box, but the inherent complexity is something that doesn't work for every user. We like to offer both types of solution.

TC-Helicon lol, I didn't knew that as I bought the Play Acoustic and we had no rehearsals with my band for about a month, So I discovered this "feature" too late and couldn't ship it back and get the Voicelive 3 (as I wanted), cause the store where I bought it doesn't change any products after 4 weeks :( As for me the problem is not the product - if it's good for so many other guitarrists - but the product description, cause this "feature" should be mentioned in all product descriptions by stores that sell your products or at least on your own webseite www.tc-helicon.com/products/play-acoustic/ cause now there are also a lot of disappointed customers like me, who bought this pig in a poke. But on your homepage I still read only this: - TC Electronic guitar FX with styles from Hall of Fame Reverb and Corona Chorus; - Dedicated Guitar and Vocal FX access/edit buttons - Simple effects customization with styles and icons The truth is out there (c) p.s. I had to buy the Switch 3 for 49€...we'll see if I manage it, to play gigs with that.
