What they are all saying makes perfect sense and I agree with both sides and understand where they are coming from. I would incline to Agogo and Adjor’s side more because serving your country should be a privilege. And with what Scanty and Andy are saying too I think policies should be put in place for players or even individuals who serve the country to help them in their times of need and it should and must be the government’s responsibility to do so for what these people have done for the country.

I agree with Scanty. If you're performing a service, you should expect to get paid especially if you've put in the effort to make it among the best of what the country has to offer. Getting paid isn't lack of pride, I'm sure there are other reasons for that, infact you'd think getting paid will be an incentive for better performance since being on the team will become more desirable. Maybe the pay can be structured as minimum rate + profit sharing instead of a massive flat rate but still we can't expect anyone to do anything for free. If the individual/team decides to use their income to support other charitable causes that's on them but like Scanty and Andy said, the national team could be an avenue to make sure home grown players also benefit if there's a decent pay structure

Football is money, charity is optional. In my opinion, it should be out of goodwill and not expectation of a great career because you're charitable. At the end of the day, footballers have mouths to feed & playing for your country especially as an African in an European club, you're often at loggerheads with your club, honouring that invitation alone, many of them pay for flight tickets themselves with promises of refund, sometimes theyre not refunded & they still play. It is unfair to expect players to play free for their countries or in this case without appearance fees, the FA gets money from CAF to organise matches, the money needs to go to the players that earn it on the pitch.
