What I don't understand is why use this app when you already have a system. Kind of a waste of money. Would be nice if it was like the xbox game pass app for people without a console

Yeah, but what if you want to play gamepass in a different room than where your console is? My apple TV is in my living room and xbox is in my office at home.

From my experience, you have to make sure its in sleep mode setting or manually turn it on

Yes, Remote Play. So you need your console to play.

No cloud xbox, but streaming from the console itself.
