Watch the play again, catcher giving him a ton of space to the plate, freight training is busch league and Bomber coach arguing is classless. Coached many tourney teams and one of my kids roast a catcher like that they would of had splinters, thats not how the game is played.

@@davidurban6090 Welcome to the modern age. This is no longer the stone age. Upon further research this organization uses NFHSAA rules. Which mandate that the runner be called out and ejected for that play. Specifically. Whether or not the catcher had the ball is immaterial under NFHSAA rules. Get back in your time machine and join the rest of us. I bet you never even played the game; although you spend loads of time riding the pine.

I thought that too until I slowed it down frame by frame and watched it and he just barely scrapes along the corner of the bag with his right foot as the ball is in his glove

@woA corgs runner had plenty of room to go around. He realized what was happening and made the choice to square up the catcher. Based on the coaches reaction it seems that’s probably what the kid was told to do in that situation. Unfortunately for this coach that’s not how the rule book works.

Catcher was making a play and runner had plenty of room to slide around… aside from that, the runner went straight into catcher intentionally. Pretty obvious.

Read a rule book and talk to a few coaches. You’re just wrong. You probably didn’t even notice that the runner had a perfectly clear path to the outside lane of the plate. Instead he chose to go inside and right into the catcher.

@@MrDude667 Also that he he lowered his shoulder and probably could have slid into home instead. The only thing that makes this dicey is the catcher was playing in front of/blocking the plate before he had the ball. But even still he is making a play on the ball (waiting for the ball off the bounce of the throw) so after it all comes out in the wash the runner should have been called out. EDIT: At 10:3 there is a similar play and the baserunner takes the outside lane and slides, which is was the player who got ejected should have done.

@@chabib23 he was in front of the plate but not entirely blocking it. Runner had a clear shot at the outside lane the whole way and chose the inside. Based on his coaches reaction, seems like that’s how the runner was instructed to handle the situation.
