I remember playing mafia 2 and shit was fr legendary, goes down as one of my top 5 games I’ve ever played.

The developers of this series used to be so much more ambitious than they are now. In many ways, each game has been worse than its predecessor, but Mafia II was somehow able to offset the losses with great visuals and memorable characters. Not so for the third.

I love it how many details mafia 2 has. You see the same thing with the police how they acting in GTA 4 compared to GTA 5. But sadly most new games just don't care about theese things.

Mafia 2 is one of the few cases i know, where the predecessor of a game, is truly better in almost every single regard. Sounds are better, story is better, missions are better, immersion and details are much better, controls are better, even the graphics are (imo) really better in Mafia 2. Except for maybe 1 or 2 things which make Mafia 3 feel like a more recent game..but still its overall uglier. With games like GTA IV vs. V everyone has their favourite, but objectively there are a lot of things that improved with GTA V over the fourth game. But with Mafia i feel like its a 100 % downgrade in every single category.

When Mafia III was realeased I must say I was really disappointed, I expected a great game like GTA V, and it was just an awful game with a very poor performance... but after some months, with all the new DLC's and patches, I started to play it again and I must say I loved it. I think the game wasn't finished yet when they released it, and there was no way to play the game with a good perfomance no matter what gear you have, but now I think it's a great game with an amazing story, and it works perfectly with a pretty good optimization. Mafia II was a great game too with amazing details for its date, but let's be honest, there wasn't too much to do besides the main quest, just some things to do with the car, but I think nobody played it just to wash the car. So, in conclusion, both are great games, but Mafia III is underrate right now.
