I basically just buy Alchemy levels, as the level system in Skyrim makes the skill almost useless, unless you want to become a god in the game

​@@LecherousLizard In Daggerfall you could have your character absorb magika from all spells that hit them as long as they have the room to consume AS A PASSIVE ABILITY. It works on AoE spells casted by the player as well, so you could spam cast nuke at your feet and never run out of magika

Same here I loved the magic sandbox and how attributes affect characters. I remember dodging the speed wayshrine blessing because it was a "target" type effect, so it hit my horse behind me and he became Flash horse. Then I played skyrim and I enjoyed it but I missed the magic sandbox and rpg mechanics, it was simplified and imo inferior. Magic is pre-baked and unmalleable, and there are just less options in general for all gameplay. I finally played morrowind and while the ai was simpler and the graphics were dated, you can do anything with the magic, and there is more of it. Also the way the skills and attributes affected your character really sold the feeling if getting better at a skill.

@@Celestial_Wing Ew you like games with narratives so streamlined they're no longer an RPG, and gameplay so oversimplified a one-handed lobotomised baboon could do it? I love Skyrim but if you play games "for graphics", you're an overgrown baby that should be looking at a photo album instead; especially if you're going to be posting cringe comments putting down people who enjoy games for what they are actually are - games, not movies. A game should be intriguing and engaging, and despite its age, Morrowind blows Skyrim out of that water in those categories. That's why Skywind is gonna kick ass, it'll be the best of both worlds. And in the meantime, you can bring Morrowind's visuals up to at least the level of vanilla Skyrim with MWSE or OpenMW mods, and the latter even has multiplayer support. But if you just want to stay in your pram with your "muh graphics" mentality, that's your loss pal

I unlocked the potion seller in the House of Dibella. I still haven't unlocked the rank required to make my own potions, but I might achieve it at one point. If you want to know, raising your rank within a faction requires raising both your reputation with them(through successfully completing quests) and your skill level with at least one of the faction's preferred skills(the House of Dibella, for example, favours language skills). If you meet the requirements, talking to one of the people within that faction that offer services should show you a message that tells you your new rank and its benefits

And with how terrible it can be to get through dungeons or level up certain skills without a trainer, it can take a lot of time and effort rising up a single rank. At times, I feel like the game has worse balancing than Oblivion's level scaling. Spells in Daggerfall, for example, can be extremely expensive to cast(the starting shock damage on touch spell costs over 60 points with a skill level of around 37, making it very unreliable if your magicka reserves are low).

@@matiasvonbischhoffshausen1307 oh yea, its gruelling, especially since you can only train once a day, and even then its not a guaranteed level. I remember how i once spent a real life hour trying to grind magic levels, so all i did was cast all of my magicka into training spells, go to a trainer for a guaranteed skill gain, sleep in a guild house (it was a church in this case), and repeat.

Daggerfall gives the player a lot of opportunities for roleplaying and character creation, but there are a lot of options, like alchemy, daedra summoning, or creating enchanted items, that need a minimum rank to be used, which limits the player's options at times.

in morrowind i do the same with a fort stat(strength mag 100-100 for 1 sec) +soul trap 1 second on target cost about 170 gold to make and i can make my str go pass 9900 if i cast it enough times though i think str also increses the damage your weapons take. i had dedric spears/bows need repairing after a few hits/shots with a str of 500.
