Fun fact: San Marino is the world's oldest country after seeing the Ancient Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire aka east Rome)fall in 1453. Apparently they have a ceremony every year. Cool.

@@AToZed71 I think modern Egypt started around 1950 when the British left and modern China was started in 1949 after the Chinese civil war whereas San Marino hasn't undergone much change if any. Idk I might be wrong. Also the modern Islamic republic was founded in 1979 after Ayatollah Khomeini death in the mid 1989s.

The same applies to Iran. San Marino is a republic, which is as much a modern concept as a people's republic. There are several older countries in Europe, such as Hungary, which was founded in 895, another example is Bulgaria, which was founded in 681.
