I always watched your videos for fun but since this pandemic happened my school delivered me a marimba and now I can use your videos as help. And I also will be playing front ensemble for the first time.yay can’t wait! because I never wasn’t a fan of marimba until now. You also inspire me to practice and love marimba. So thank you .

I will say that as an educator, it's nice to have obvious indicators for which mallets your students are using, such as having different colors for hardnesses like these. If you can more easily recognize the mallets in your students' hands, then you don't have to ask them what hardness they're using, and you can make changes without having that extra step in the process. Plus, it makes it easier for the students because you can say "hey can you use the teal instead of the blue" and there's no confusion.

These sound incredible for front ensemble mallets, I might buy a set now 👀 also for perspective, virtually every front ensemble mallet on the market, whether they be Promark, Vic Firth, or Innovative are all in this exact same $30-40 range, so looks like M1's gonna get a lot more buzz

True! DCA corps are all age, maybe you should check one of them out! (Reading Bucs, Atlanta CV) The upper echelon of those corps puts on shows close in difficulty to higher open corps/lower world corps, they primarily rehearse on weekends so that members can maintain a home/work life balance

Could you do a video on "how to advance on marimba" because i've been playing for about a year and feels like I'm not making any progress, i'm just not sure what and how to practice to get more skilled.

Perhaps you need to try new things, maybe different types of pieces (e.g. Bach or slow pieces if you've been doing too much choppy stuff, or more technique exercises if it's the opposite). Or, find an insanely difficult piece and figure out what it is you can't do straightaway in that piece, and that will give you some direction :)

It's just 5 :) (But that's still pretty big in terms of marimbas because the largest ones are 5.5 octaves)

@@jonrattenborg1907 yes I can't remember who made the 7, but Vancore made a 6 octave earlier last year which looks like a disaster 😅

@@AdamTanPercussion lol. I just found it on the website where it says that made a 6 octave, thanks for sharing! I have no idea what anyone would even need anything bigger than a 5 octave though, it doesnt seem to practical to me (I mean, the extended range could be helpful in some cases like adding more people, or even just playing lower/higher noted to help with some arrangements, but it still doesn't seem to be practical in general).
