From a Wigan fan's perspective, this was, ironically, one of the best squads in our 8 seasons of Premier League football - I think winning the FA Cup showed its obvious potential. We finished with 36 points, a pretty respectable tally that would be enough for survival more seasons than not - despite losing *seven* first team defenders to injury in the second-half of the season. Ivan Ramis suffered a serious ligament injury in January 2013 in real life, too, which is kind of freaky! Ramis, Figueroa (first-choice CBs), Lopez (back-up CB), Beausejour (starting LWB) and Stam (back-up RB) were all injured for the final. Alcaraz (starting CB) only just came back for the final after months out and Caldwell (back-up CB) was named on the bench despite carrying an injury, only because there was nobody to replace him with and there were already two reserve team players (Fyvie, Golobart) in the squad as it was. The goal-scorer, Watson, of course only returned that week after being out for 6 months with a broken leg. All the injuries meant that McArthur played RWB for the first and probably last time in his career. City, by comparison, had a 100% healthy squad except for Scott Sinclair, who didn't even make their squad most weeks anyway so it didn't impact them. Winning the cup final was incredible in itself, but the squad situations is something most people don't know about and makes the achievement even more of a miracle.

Millwall made the UEFA Cup in 2004 after they reached the FA Cup Final that year. This was the time when the FA Cup runner up would get into the UEFA Cup if the FA Cup winners already qualified for Europe. In this instance Manchester United already qualified, so Millwall got in.

They didn't go on to win, and it isn't massively retro but the young Ajax team in 2019 (FIFA 18) who were knocked out by a Lucas Moura hat trick to not make the UCL final, and were dismantled by the next summer would be a nice one to see have another crack at it, especially with such a sick young squad.
