You guys are geniuses... seriously it's the main guitar riff.. that means it is played throughout the whole song mainly... the only reason we don't notice it throughout the whole song is because of the vocals...

Guess what, people prefer different things. My weapon of choice is a Black Explorer loaded with EMG 81 in the neck, 85 in the bridge, and a EMG S in the center, all running off of two 9V's to get the 18V badassery

I mute the E string with my left index finger. It's much easier and comfortable IMO.

@DaveGuyStuff16 possibly we cant hear it because it isnt overdubbed as much during the verse when power chords are played( i heard that the main guitar in this song is overdubbed like 40 times or something like that)

at the end of riff sounds like hes not playing flowingly, the riff is consistent, he stops strumming when he should let the riff swell. other then that.. it sounds ok

So that wasn't helpful. He played the intro of the intro. But the rest of the song is basically octave chord slides and chords D, A, C, and G.
