This is fantastic! I love the new stressors that the game brings to seasoned players. It really makes them think and it really makes them interact with the world around them it's truly a beautiful game. When the guy said do half elves have dark vision? I laughed out loud and screamed at the top of my lungs you're in the shadowdark now baby!

Hilariously brutal. d20 is so crazy without significant modifiers. Have to agree with the what others have stated: Funnels need a shared/common pool of characters. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of "redshirts" being used to facetank traps and being distraction-meals for the bad guys. I normally make people roll up a number of shared characters and then make them draw one at random each time a new one is needed.

Cool steam. I appreciated seeing this gauntlet being ran. The only thing I didn't understand was the darkness didn't seem to effect the characters all that much. I would've thought a d8 would have been rolled to figure out where they blindly went.

In the theatre of the mind, have the multiple PC characters move together and attack together. keeps tracking of everything simple. Init is the highest DEX and Enemy Hits are the lowest AC first or any the character wants as long as it hits one of the character's AC.

I have to ask after watching quite a few of your videos, how would I go about getting a chance to play in one of your games? Specifically Shadowdark. Are all the players just people you know?

yeah moving all the characters is a huge pain in the arse any funnel always control 1 character and assume the others are just there only bring them into the combat when need be.

Funnels work better if the players roll up a pool of characters and then roll against each other to pick their favorite. The other characters become NPCs and require reaction rolls to act. If a PC dies that player then chooses their next character from the pool. That stops players from gaming the system to keep their favorite alive.

Is it that bad that players would do that? I sort of see these funnels as a gamplay system to get a decently rolled character while giving them an interesting backstory and history.
