Aloha Jeffrey, welcome back, nice match with Kyle. Enjoyed the debrief. I rarely get to hear players analyze their performance. Always insightful. Thanks, stay well.

Good match. my two cents: the blue guy is very quick and good at predict the first few round. after that I think Jeffrey can win when the match go to more round. sometimes he can predict you next hit and he is there waiting for you. this is due to sometimes you have very common pattern to response. for example the forehand drive at the back. you always do straight. he net is very good with lots of fake in it and he move to the net super quick. I think you can do more and repeat flat speed clear to hold him at the back. be patience and defense more. at the same time when you hit the net delay a little bit. so it can break the guys first action. but overall you forks are pretty good.

Regarding the return of serve to your forehand: your serve could be a tad faster (making it harder to hit near the net), but mainly you take a sizeable step backwards. That moves your position back AND you have a slight bit of backwards momentum to overcome. Also, some of your shots from the back are a bit too slow, giving your opponent too much time, and you fell for a couple crosscourt netshots in those situations. Try pushing the drop a bit further into the court and play it slightly faster - that'll make it much harder to play a tight, controlled return. Cool idea to film a match and immediately talk about it, it's especially interesting to hear what both your thoughts were during the match and what you tried to do tactically. Oh, and since we both seem to struggle a bit when serving: what helps me is trying to stand relaxed right after the serve, but focussing on the timing of my split step and trying to push off as hard as I can when the return is hit. Playing Kyle should help with that, his returns seem pretty deceptive.

Great points! You’re definitely right about how my speed of serve could be faster! And yeah, Kyle’s shots are very deceptive 😆

Yo! Thought you'd quit badminton. Hope this vid is a channel reboot and we're in for some more quality analysis soon ;)

Hahaha I pretty much did quit for a year! And I’m gonna see how I feel, gonna go one video at a time :p What kind of videos are you looking forward to/want to see me make?

@@BadmintonwithJeffrey All the analysis videos of Lin Dan and the other pros are very insightful! I've watched some of them a couple of times. The videos where you spend time improving and commenting on your form with comparison to pro players are great to, makes me see some of the small but important errors in my own game.
