Oblivion if you haven’t played it. Skyrims predecessor, the world somehow feels significantly more unique despite the dated graphics. The map is also bigger than Skyrim, even without accounting for the SI add on. And even tho it might sounds crazy that they have a larger map on old graphics, but the map is anything but empty, there’s soooo much exploration.

@@637danyea, what helps is the different looking areas and town cultures, bruma is a cold place with Nordic tones, where as anvil is a southern coastal town, in skyrim, you have snowy woods, regular woodland forest, and open plains, even the towns are all very similar without much difference

@@637dan my man, I’ve played them all and oblivion is certainly a jam but Morrowind is my absolute favorite. That’s a game I can genuinely get lost in. Oblivion was that weird in the middle for me where it was dumbed down enough from Morrowind to disappoint me in places and not as impactful as Skyrim. The main quest is absolutely amazing though and I think is the best one story wise.

Did you ever get deep into Fallout new vegas? like really give it a try? for me they are both masterpieces. Fallout 4 is super fun for building bases and stuff too. The story makes roleplaying really difficult though. Every 5 minutes your character is yelling "where's shaun! where's my son!". It gets so old so fast. Hopefully the next gen fallout and elder scrolls games will have multiple voice options, if they are voiced at all, and hopefully a more open backstory. Thats what fallout 4 was missing IMO. That and melee outside of vats in fallout 4 is an absolute joke. Many weapons have one attack animation. so they cant even swing from multiple directions. Melee combat in fallout 4 literally looks like someone cutting trees in runescape classic. Its sooooo clunky. fallout 3, skyrim, and new vegas were miles better at melee combat, at least outside of vats. In fallout 4, vats is virtually the only viable way to play a melee build.

@user-hp9qy5fr4s8 ай бұрын
I started playing Skyrim a few months ago for at least once a week, and man you hit it right on the nose. The first time I really stopped and look up at night, I was leaving Riverwood through the northeast exit and had crossed the bridge and was just about to turn the corner in the path leading to Whiterun. I stopped walking and looked up, was greeted by the giant moon, and maaan..... it was magical for sure, but it was also just...really peaceful. Serene. It was a lovely experiencing, taking all of that in for the very first time. Beautiful game, splendid. I did get ambushed by a dragon shortly after but let's not dwell on that

@Slaggedfire Жыл бұрын
@@KnotsOfWonders Sure it has great atmosphere, but mechanically it's a lobotomized elder scrolls game. It's nice if you just want to look at a pretty picture, but you don't need to spend 60$ on something to see a nice picture. I wonder what TES6 will take out when it releases. Every new TES release we lose a batch of mechanics from the previous games.
@KnotsOfWonders Жыл бұрын
@@Slaggedfire I wouldn't say lobotomised but rather it's been Mcdonald'sified. Which isn't a good or bad thing in my opinion because the streamlining of the mechanics attracted a larger playerbase to the franchise and more people playing = franchise not abandoned. There are some things they did better I think like dungeons although more linear are more unique compared to previous games. I'm more worried about corporate greed with microtransactions and 10 re-releases of legendary special anniversary remaster remastered editions of the same game.

Skyrim has got me through all my years of school. After a long day of interacting with people I would go home and play Skyrim til 3am and sometimes even til I had to go to school the next day. Always looked forward to Fridays and the weekends so I could feel the same way this video is. Like I’m inside especially when it’s both night in the game and real life without noise, just the relaxing music of Skyrim… miss my teenage days😢

This is it. Exactly. I haven't played Skyrim in years but it's the only game I've put more than a thousand hours in. It was magical for my teenage self. And it still is magical. You captured the atmospheric nostalgia perfectly. The very definition of immersion. The peaceful cool blues of the aurora accompanied by an incredible soundtrack. Peak gaming 👌 No wonder Skyrim is so near to our hearts.

Yep, the music actually did half maybe even more of the atmosphere, because Jeremy Soule is just an amazing composer, who created a lot of crazy good soundtracks, and canceling him was a huge mistake for the series and for the industry as a whole (he wasn't even actually proven guilty let alone charged). Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim will be remembered as the golden age of the whole series, and TES6 won't be half as good, mark my words.
