this is the part of the video where i put in a lot of buzzwords in the hopes that it will boost my video in youtube reccomendations. gee whiz i sure hope that would happen because i think this video is pretty silly and i worked hard on it and i would love to make others laugh as much as i laughed while i was editing it (is that narcissisitc of me?) anyway in this video i play crusader kings 4 and pretend to be queen of the byzantine empire. i named her theodosia like from hamilton and do silly things like find a husband and get married and have kids and go to war and torture prisoners of war. i think you can tell a bit but my style of comedy and the way that i would like to do videos going forward is inspired a lot by jschlatt, dougdoug, alpharad, and rtgame. who are some other people i can put in here. crusader kings

You know, your playthrough as a cruel devoted ruler her kids were scared of was kind of historically accurate. The first female byzantine empress, St Irene of Athens , took over when her husband died, was dethroned by her son who later asked her to come back as co-empress, because he realised he was a stupid kid who nedded mum's help to run the biggest empire in the christian world. She had his eyes gouged out because he was a little brat who imprissoned her and she wanted to rule on her own again. In the end she was asked to retire to an island because she was bad at not loosing wars and run out of bribe money. She was made a saint because she solved some serious religious drama during her reing, and told the pope to f**k off when he gave her title of Roman Emperor to a french/german guy (because he didn't consider a woman could hold it). This french/german guy, Charlamagne, also tried to marry her so he could also steal her land, but she told him to f**k off too

One problem I noticed with ck3 is that characters seem to all be part of the same family, as they are all kinda similar. You managed to create a character that is actually unique without making her hideous. The power of sims 4 players

Its not super apparent how to play the game at first but trust me everyone who plays it fails quite a bit before they understand the basics of staying alive and making sure you have hiers. I love the game but I affectionately call it a "map simulator" because its litterally just me staring at a map for hours 😂

I recommend changing the settings of your gameplay to flip genders. All “male preference” things become “female preference” so all the religions and lines of succession prefer girls.

Honestly enjoy the discovery phase of the game; for those of us who play this game too much, we have to put in actual effort to NOT optimize everything

Install obfusckate and dark ages, stress becomes a huge deal so you're forced to roleplay and obfusckate makes it much easier to roleplay a limited perspective. Oor just get creative but if you're having trouble with over-optimization I personally think this is a way to really dig into both the roleplay *and* mechanics.

You wouldn’t be the only simmer turned ck3 player. There is actually an interesting niche overlap between the two, because we are RPers. Ck3 also attracts quite a few queer players. I am one! Your great jokes aside, I do think there are things the sims could learn from ck3, like the fantastic genetics system and the personality traits! This was definitely an entertaining video. This is my new favorite way to learn how to play CK3 using the Sims 4 as the baseline. And just to one of your comments, character customization isn't a gendered interest, people of all genders both love to customize their characters or completely disregard that step.

@@softreyna I also played CK2, but significantly less. CK2 and CK3 are quite different, so it is not surprising when it is not clear what is happening in CK3 even if you have experience in CK2. I periodically take breaks, usually up to six months, but even with the release of a new DLC, interest does not last long. A logical continuation would be to go into multiplayer, but I play games not because I like to have unnecessary contact with strangers lol

I’m so bad at CK3 but I play it to become the most powerful girlboss. If you go into the gameplay settings you can basically have the game switch everything to the opposite gender (so anything’s that’s patrilineal becomes matrilineal and anything with male preference now has female preference). It’s the only way I play the game now.

It's just published by them, developed by a separate studio, I think. Still pretty hyped for a big name publisher Sims competitor (and one with steam workshop support... Modding the Sims 4 was always a pain in the ass) Personally there are a couple indie Sims-likes I'm more excited for but cautiously hopeful for the Paradox one
