I have been playing the violin as a child & teenager for 5 years, but stopped over 10 years ago. Now I'm trying to find my way back and it's super challenging! For what you did in 2 weeks - amazing! Would have been nice to hear how much you actually practiced and if alone or with a teacher. Also that's a very beautiful instrument that you got there! Especially for that price 🙂 Tip: If you want to keep peace with neighbors & family... Practice with an E-Violin, they are much quieter 😀

For two weeks or so, that's not too bad! I'll pass on some wisdom from a few conductors I've known, though - vibrato solves all intonation problems 😁

So, we've seen Benni playing an orchestral string instrument and an orchestral brass instrument... send him an orchestral wind instrument next! I'm terribly tempted to suggest the bassoon, but I'm not so mean to want to put him through that after just trying the violin 😅 Maybe send him through a low reed? It'd be awesome seeing him on an instrument made for big beefy bassist fingers, honking away on a Bari/Bass Saxophone or a Bass Clarinet (or even better, an Alto or Contrabass Clarinet, but I'm not getting my hopes up for those)

in a way yes and in a way no. You got a feeling for strings and pressure and how they respond, but the bow makes it complicated..

I record songs too and for some reason I thought, it's smart to play a violin solo without ever having touched a violin...took like 2 hours of practising and then 800 takes but I got it down 🥵 still sorry for my neighbours

Ich finde, Benni sollte es mal mit der Èrhú probieren. Die hat nämlich nur zwei Saiten. Nee, Spaß - ich finde, dass er das richtig gut hinbekommen hat nach nur zwei Wochen Übung! Èrhú wäre aber vielleicht trotzdem mal eine schöne Idee. Klingt wieder ganz anders als eine Geige, gefällt mir aber auch sehr gut. Am Spielen bin ich allerdings gescheitert, auch nach mehr als zwei Wochen.
