Sometimes I just spend time experimenting with art materials as a way to find a line of inquiry and inject something new and different into my art making. In this video I take you with me as I do just that..
On days when I’m feeling under-inspired or a little lack-lustre, a window of time to just meander and connect with art materials can help. For me, totally aimless play rarely leads me anywhere exciting, rather I find it better when I have something to respond to...

Delightful color mixes and these cutouts would look so lovely on a background of deep blue or purple colored felt, velvet, or suede fabric - really super mixed media creations.

Thanks, Helen, another great video. Play is so important and we never quite know where it may take us. I had fun yesterday with Indian ink and a brush made from fallen wisteria ‘twigs’, watercolour on top and I had an interesting abstract that I have made into four cards. Enjoy your well deserved break. You have left us with plenty of inspiration! Diana

It's fascinating seeing your process, please show us where you go with these. I really love your folded blue piece.... I'm wondering about a long thin concertina that folds different ways. I'm developing my textile practice and your work often inspires me to contemplate 'how can I do something similar in fabric?' Thank you!
