A few bits on the GX4000. It wasn't a UK exclusive, It also came out in France. Amstrad where quite popular in France at the time. The Console had its launch in Paris. Barbarian is a one on one Fighter, not a Golden Axe clone, the first game pre dates Golden Axe (It's more of a Conan the Barbarian rip than anything else). Operation Thunderbolt is the Sequel to Operation Wolf. Its a light gun game made by Tatio.

Here in the UK when I was a kid in the 90s Asterix was really popular. The books were some of the few comics allowed in the school library and I still have a few of the large hardback compilations of 6 books. The Mega Drive and Master System game were also popular. I learned a lot of play on words jokes from the comics, especially with characters names.

I think Amstrad & Ocean had a contract or deal for GX4000 games. Ocean mostly transferred their disk/cassette games to GX4000 Cartridges to quickly build a library for Amstrad. The likes of Batman are almost identical to the £3.99 cassette version but with no load times at £24.99! Oceans RoboCop 2 however is a GX4000 exclusive. Barbarian II is a maze game with combat where as Barbarian 1 is a 1v1 sword fighter.

I thought I knew the CD32 library pretty well and then you pull out the Assassins 2 disc. Basically one of the many random shareware compilation discs compatible with the CD32 and other Amiga machines. Good grabs in the big box stuff, not easy to come by anymore.

@23:52: I have fond memories of playing James Pond 2: Codename Robocod during the holidays! Got it randomly for Christmas one year for the Sega Genesis, and later picked up a copy of the DS version. It's a tough, but fun little Christmas themed platformer. It was in the yearly rotation with Christmas Nights.

Ya, I have that GCLoader. I got the revised one that doesn't require soldering. I'm not tech savvy when it comes to modding electronics, but it wasn't too difficult to install. Just be mindful that you need to remember to use the small screws it comes with. Its a fine device so long as you don't mind removing the disc laser. You can even play the Gameboy Player without the disc (weather you have an ISO of the Player, or the modern software of which I can't think of off the top of my head)

The Barbarian games were very popular in the UK on home computers. C64, ZX Spectrum, Amiga, etc etc. The first one was the bigger hit. Its more like a prototype for Mortal Combat being a fighting game with, for its time, gory fatalities. It also was notorious for sampling the same blade clash sounds from the Red Sonja film that the Prodigy would later use in their hit Breathe (only the game developers didn't get permission). It might not be as well known in the US as there was another game on the Amiga called Barbarian.

Put in a 1TB card that I had previously in my switch but upgraded that one to a 1.5TB sd card. But that ssd device would be a better choice to move files from your phone to your pc 🤔 Much quicker than an sd card

My PS2 is region unlocked and have no issues with the Japan Imports I have but with the 3 English Imports (Conan, Xyanide Resurrection, and He-Man) the screen keeps flipping upwards rendering them unplayable on my CRT. Wonder if he has the same issue? Operation Thunderbolt is the sequel to Operation Wolf which was in all the arcades when I was a kid. Might suck without the gun like the NES version did. Apparently Thunderbolt released on SNES also.

Pretty cool stuff here Adam! ironically I just started looking into the Amiga 32 CD 💿 a few hidden gems maybe in the systems lineup. Also the barbarian game… there is a switch game called “tiny Barbarian” not sure if it’s based off the same game or not. I know the switch had a few remake physical copy games in the early line up if the system. Seems the Amiga CD was mainly a UK thing (that’s the vibe I get). Was any of the Amiga stuff expensive over there? A buddy of mine is over there now maybe (if not expensive) he can grab me a few things lol $$$ pending of course
