He could’ve just cracked them for mana when it was still on the stack and forced the Otawara activation out, so it didn’t change too much

@@banditcroco9014 Same here. Tuck also piloting one of my favorite commanders within the recent years is also a huge plus for this expisode to me. Xyris is so ridiculously strong. An early Impact Tremors this game wouldve changed this game drastically lol

Fun fact: the early game is one of the reasons Xyris is notorious for going off without being disrupted. People want to get hit with him so they let it hit them, which invariably plays into the gameplan. Xyris dodges countermagic and removal because people want it to resolve and smack them upside the head.

something I learned recently was that you can't crack Treasures (or activate any rocks!) while Abolisher is out! the more you know

Tuck probably should have separate representations of snakes for summoning sick or not, 2nd to last turn he attacked with some snakes that couldn't attack.

I would’ve just assumed zyris was bad in cedh because drawing opponents cards but it really feeds off all the broken draw engines

It also tends to break peoples' brains. With Xyris out, you don't want to draw cards.

My atraxa Cedh deck does a similar thing, I run cards like smothering tithe and orcish bow masters, so I run Lorain (because I have some blinking shenanigans, and Displacer Kitten) which can also tap to draw a card. I also run Ertai Resurrected, which can counter a spell, triggered, or activated ability while also forcing an opponent to draw a card. Or if I wanna remove a creature or Planeswalker. Ofc I also run Arcane Denial (who doesn't?)

Xyris is one of my pet decks, and people sleep on it all the time. People often say, "It's bad because in order to get the snakes your opponents have to do what you don't want them to do." 5 turns later, they're staring at 40 snakes and asking if I'll pay for Rhystic Study.

Perplexing Chimera allows you to remove two points of interaction (steal a spell and then point that spell at a different enemy spell) and Tyler runs both Seedborn Muse and Homeward Path so he can use it every turn.

Xyris, the Writhing Storm does the thing i wish a mono white legendary creature did. in my opinion, it's powerful because of it's color access and if WotC does make a mono white creature similar to it people will be angry. However, that mono white creature has to be Xyris, the Writhing Storm plus. Really interesting game, well played.

Tuck shouldn't have triggered the esper sentinel when he cast final fortune. Rhystic study earlier in the turn already triggered the sentinel.

It’s referring to the cEDH meta right now being heavily favoring midrange decks because they’re powerful enough to win through most stax and to control most turbo decks so every game turns into a midrange slog where no one can get thru the advantage engines of their opponents

Pelople sleep on Xyrus. 100% It's the "smoll potatoes" theory I have. "Oh you only draw one card on X? Sure" "Oh you only make a 1/1 on X? Lmao whatever." People's threat assessment is magnified greatly by "size" so if you're doing constant value pieces people will generally shrug that off until you've amassed a state so powerful it causes you to overrun the opponent. No one wants to waste their removal on a low to mid-power value or engine item, then the board becomes full of low to mid-power engine items.

yeah "ragavan is busted" like Cam on Etali saying "yeah this isn't a turbo hand at all but ima swing rag at you" ok "flip over rite of flame" cam - "oh that changes everything" -- please be responsible cam -- cam "yeah we are casting rite of flame into mystic remora" (proceeds to cast etali and draw mystic remora 12+ cards in one turn and winning on turn 2) moral of the story, never trust a turbo deck
