I'm not Sebastian, but Robson street is so awesome for dessert! (I mean, Nero waffles + Snowy Village! Yes!) And Stanley Park is always lovely, same to Granville Island and its public markets and shops. (Also, Gastown in general is fun to explore!) And you might want to see if any of the night markets are still open?

Of course! Also, Wowderffle last time I was up north was ADORABLE. Stuffed bubble waffles just make things so awesome. (And Beta5 is worth visiting, but you will totally think you're in the wrong spot before you find it. Seriously.)

I only recommend AU if you're helping them build credit or for benefits (like Priority Pass or lounge access).

The more I see airline lounges the less impressed I am by them. Just nothing special.

That's why I typically only value lounge visits at $5 to $20. Basically equivalent to what you would have had to pay outside. For this visit, I'd say $5 to $10, mostly for all the drinks (again, your alternative is inflated airport prices).

Steven - I think you are right. If you have to pay to get in they are not good value. I fly mostly internationally and have elite airline status and so get in at no extra cost. Some international layovers can be quite long so sitting in a quiet area with free food and drink is a big benefit to me.

Being able to have a shower on a layover after a 10 hour flight flight makes it worthwhile for me (and of course the cake:)
