Don't get me wrong the modularity of the mollie system is good however I still prefer the plce webbing I was issued from cadets. It fit well, could be adjusted alot easier without having to slice up my hands and there was just more space to use

I much prefer carrying loads on my hips. Generally not a fan of chest rigs or vests/plate carriers.

I think our forces are going to have trouble if we get into the shit in South East Asia again. We do great when we have the long logistics chain in place but decades of fighting out of trucks (HMMWV, M2 or MRAP) with H2O/Rats Class 1 and Ammunition Class 5 being a radio call away. These TAP rigs issued across the board are all too wide for the average Medium Regular Soldier, all the weight is burdened on the front. In the Asian jungles the only way its going to be usable is to flip it around backwards as a hip rig. The A-TAP convertable Chest Rig/LBE does it a little bit better but still needs improvement. Just like reports back from our volunteers in Ukraine, we got so used to be being spoled by the logistics system that living in austere environments can be a challenge. I wore ALICE LC2 during my 10 years but we didn't have a choice. You couldn't even go out and buy your own "LBV88" Tactical Load Bearing Vest TLBV, you would not be allowed to use it in the field unless the unit was issued it. That whole Dress Right Dress, Everybody Uniform OCD. I see some of the Instructors of the new generation "Jungle School" in Hawaii using late MTP PLCE mixed with MOLLE system. "We" lost tons of insitutional knowledge of Small Unit/Light Infantry/Jungle Warfare TTP over the past 2 decades. Your MOD Jungle School in Belize has a nearly uninterrupted half century of knowledge being passed on to your Troops.

I’ve never served but webbing is my go to choice when I have to carry a load during events. I do go to ground unlike a lot of airsoft players so getting low matters to me.

@@Parabueto The first time i ever saw them was on a very lightweight fabric set of 3 pouches from Spain which i found in a surplus shop, brown in colour, and the fabric was very soft and would easily be damaged by metal magazines, i took the buckles off and sewed them to a butt pouch. Since then everyone i know has called them "spanish buckles" I have no idea of the correct military name.

@@AnvilAirsoftTV nope plce in MTP. I was suprised. I was expecting osprey kit hand-me-downs but no plce. Its not bad but the Spanish clips are a nightmare when your trying to do a reload on the move or in the prone.

Hippo belt lol our first attempts were sections of roll mat we cut off the main matt ( which we used to cut down the far too long length) we then cable tied the cut off to the belt.

10.35, with the tailoring of extra buckles/tapes, some sneaky strap routing on the lid and the application of an extra yoke I see your two rockets and raise you seven for a total of nine on the Bergen :-p I also have provision for two on my molle belt and just added a pair of plce zips to a gsr pouch that sits between them. Not saying it's perfect but plce sure is open to modification and 'improvement'. E-tool lives inside Gsr*

I don’t really need the extra space. Anything like that would either be in day sack or back at camp.

You don’t need the load carrying capacity of both. Better off using either one with a small day sack which you can dump if needed. It depends where you like to carry weight really. You can wear both but it means having the PLCE lower than is optimal to clear the bottom of the vest.

PLCE has a weird development. It was a big compromise. We haven’t but can probably borrow one for a walk.

There are issue patrol packs. Lots of soldiers choose to buy their own. For an ‘ally’ look especially in the 90s the Berghaus Munro was popular.

Avoid anything with bulky waist straps or that’s too flashy. Jay jays make their own pack.

Go for a old school chest rig if you can find one. Given it’s an LAR rather than an L1A1 maybe a repro rhodie rig would work well. I do happen to have one here…

L1A1 mags are a bit too wide to comfortably fit into PLCE ammo pouches. You could run additional water bottle or utility pouches instead of the ammo ones.

@AnvilAirsoftTV thank you, definitely going to get spare utility and water pouches then. I heard if you removed the divider that you may fit 2 of them but hasn't been able to get a definitive answer anywhere

It’s the issue sweat rag but I’ve had it tailored into a tube with the ends joined.

Means the weight is carried on the hips. Anything you need to get to in a hurry is in the ammo pouches. The main reason is to be able to go to ground and crawl. Anything in a pouch you can’t see would only be used whilst ina safer area. Eating etc or accessible to your buddy who can get it for you.

You also always can kind of "swing around" the belt to bring the back pouches up front, when you are not in a hurry. Last but not least, for many things in the army, this was maybe your only carry system for everything for the day, drop heavy bergen somewhere and go light with just PLCE.

@@phh2400 That is more like the SAS "junglie" type set up known as an "escape belt" with no yoke, if you are infantry or similar the yoke has to be dropped down to access rear pouches in the way you suggest. I read recently of an SAS officer in Borneo who had to drop his Bergen, ditched his belt and then evaded Indonesians with just a compass. He could not do that with a Yoke. One disadvantage of no yoke is if you run it can slip and trip you up. In my own case i have mostly used a light weight simple two strap yoke that crosses at the back which can be stored in a pocket, daysack or bergen if not in use. So i can do what you suggest. For longer stints i used PLCE with the mesh cut out and an added rear brace strap in the gap, as my back used to sweat like hell. I tried US H and Y types, (Y are very uncomfortable) then settled for a modified PLCE type of the 6 point design.

The vast majority of people over here are generally quite happy with the firearms laws that we do have. The US and UK are two very different countries with very different cultures.
