Part 2: • Irpin to Kyiv: Never R...
There seem to be a trend of people wanting to move to the city of Irpin as it's supposedly just "25 minutes" alway from Kyiv (Kiev) and half the price. I take my good friend Bald and Bankrupt there to explore what it's like, how much apartments costs, what there is to do, and to see if it really is the better, cheaper alternative to the capital city of Kyiv (Kiev), Ukraine.

Don't say that. Maybe I have bad taste myself, but Irpin is the most beautiful of all cities in Ukraine I've been to. I actually almost bought a flat there. When I was visiting it, I loved it so much. When I had to return to Kyiv - it looked so terrible in contrast. Even though I loved Kyiv all the time. So all the time I'm wondering how is it even possible in our country, to have a city which is so nicely organised, as if people realy care about it.

I moved from Kyiv to Irpin 1 month ago, and can explain a little bit: The reason for people saying It is 2 times cheaper is due to rent prices. If you rent a 2room apartment in Kyiv near the metro with a good renovation it would cost you 800-1000$. If you rent one in Irpin, it will be 400-500$, and It will be even more beautiful with windows in the floor as all the buildings are modern. Other expenses are the same as in Kyiv, so you save only on the rent. The ecology is much better than in Kyiv (forest air, lots of trees, clean streets) P.S those antic monuments are really just a style. I was curious about them too🙂 And yeah, it is 1.20 hours from the center by public transport (traffic jams do not affect this time). Or 30 mins by car without the jams.

I don’t like Irpin much and I live in another small town close to this place. The profits I have in the summer time: clean lakes in the neighbourhood area where I can swim with my friends, yoga on the grass (different groups), amazing garden in my yard, farm products from the local market, no concrete ghetto around. Other profits: good coffee places and nice family cafes (sorry, guys, I don’t like fast food) The main drawback is the traffic. And you definitely should have a car. Museums, theatres and cultural events I usually attend on weekends and I’m ok with it. Oh! Living in suburbia is not about being cheaper. Like in Europe, in the USA it’s about another quality of living. Good or bad? It’s up to you. I can tell about the service here if you’re interested. What should be better, what is ok.

23:57 I can tell you. Most Ukrainian cities have nothing to do with Romans or antique times (except the ones on the Black sea, like Odesa, Mykolaiv, Sevastopol that were Greek colonies in the ancient times). But the antique culture and architecture have inspired early soviet architects, so the people that lived in that places learned the taste of beauty and glory from the antique architecture. The influence of antique architecture was so strong, so even nowadays people think that antique columns and pieces are the nicest things to put in a public space.

Well, Odesa was founded 1794, Mykolaiv - 1789, Sevastopol - 1783. Sevastopol has really nothing common in history with old ancient greek Chersonesus except the place, where it was found. Odesa almost the same story except that nothing have left from ancient times, but this is not even known for sure. Mykolaiv has no connection to greek colonies at all, lol.

Johnny, don"t forget, that there is another new road to Kiev from the new part of Irpin. You can reach the city much quicker, if you live in a new part. I've bought an apartment there one year ago. I lived in Kiev before, but in Irpin I am much happier. Jogging there is perfect))) but I don't like an old part of Irpin. Another locations to check out: Sinergia (new residential district), Admiral (famous SPA hotel), Central park. Have a nice day!

Investing money in real estate in Irpen is a common practice. If you spend about 50 thousand dollars to buy a one-room apartment, you can rent it out and receive about 4-5% per year. I live in Irpin more than 7 years. But I never attended a Georgian restaurant, or drank coffee in the 'Irpin' hotel, especially since I didn't testet their 'wc'. WC really looks like a Soviet, but too clean and the hand-dryer is not broken:). Irpin was a border post between the Russian empire and Poland 300 years ago. Of course, Rome has not any connections with Irpin. However, the city had a lot of money and the mayor wanted to get this money via companies who made these statues and a square reconstruction. In conclusion, everyone was happy, the mayor got money(criminal cases too), citizens got new squares and parks.

@myk108
@myk108 2 жыл бұрын
@@miket2055 It is hard to say. Ukraine is not a rich country but Kyiv has a better life level than other districts. Average salary for Ukraine is 500 dollars per month, with taxes. However,there should be more for Irpin as a suburb of Kyiv. Irpin grows very fast. Ten years ago there were only 30 thousand people, now they are close to 80 thousand, because building houses here is cheaper than in Kyiv. Square, the park, Hesburger and a Georgian restaurant were built less than 4 years ago. Most of the new people have salaries higher than average, however most of them work in Kyiv.

The price variance is because they are charging you "tourist" rates. its common in small popular towns that receive an influx of people during certain holiday months and so the towns try to cash in on this, it is part of their sustainability. next time when you order a meal throw in something like "id like this...(But from the LOCAL MENU) please."
