Staining your concrete is affordable and something you can do yourself!
**update #2**
This stain will leave your concrete smoother and therefore more slippery when it gets wet. If it is a high traffic area I would use the product Behr Advanced Deck Over which is textured so non slip. Follow the same instructions in this video 😊

The stain has held up well but I want to note that we live in San Diego so we do not deal with inclement weather conditions. If you do, I would suggest adding a top sealant coat!

Like any material coating job, prep is the most important element to improve adhesion of the stain to the substrate. A gas powered power washer with deck surface cleaning attachment can be rented from home Depot for 80 bucks for 4 hours more importantly though would be to prep the surface for cleaning with a concrete cleaner degreaser. To avoid all the roller marks that are present in your finished product, a pump sprayer to spray the stain on follow up by a person back rolling will drastically reduce the tiger stripes

I do stained concrete and epoxy floors for a living. I get calls to fix home depot stain floors all the time. True acid stain is the only way to go.

Hi! I'm very impressed. My concrete outside looks very much like yours before your project. One question...I live in Los Angeles and has it ever bubbled up during or after it dried? It get pretty hot here in L.A. Please let me know before I take on this project. Thanks so Much!!

It never bubbled up, but I would suggest a sealer or to use a textured product like Behr Advanced Deck Over if your concrete is in a high traffic area. The stain alone will leave your concrete a little slippery when wet!

How is the behr semi transparent concrete stain holding up after 3 years? I live NW Washington. On 9.4.2023. I finished staining my new patio with 5 gallons of behr solid concrete stain and will be adding a sealer with im a week. Should i look forward to this flaking within 5 year.

You should of put a sealer over it. Give it protection and shine. Would look better!

Don’t you need to etch the concrete first? Pretty sure Home Depot recommends that prep step. Also, they do not accept returns on tinted paints. Not my Home Depot anyway
