It is through these podcasts that I've realized how much depth Zach has & how intelligent he is. He is extremely articulate and expresses himself so well. I didn't notice this on LPBW.

I noticed it in the later seasons. Like when he skipped the BVI trip on principle...didn't want to go on a family vacation without his mom. Super sensible. Happy they have this platform to share their viewpoints separate from the show.

I love Zach’s take on phones for parents with young kids. He’s so right! If we tell our kids no screens and then they watch us sit and zone out on our phones it really does send the wrong message in my opinion. So glad he voiced that!👏🏼

It's so refreshing to see Zach understand people working in customer service may have a difficult time sometimes. So often people who have NEVER worked in customer service and had to deal with the general public everyday moan and conplain or get offended like Zach said about customer service workers but dont understand what it's even like .

My parents are Cuban and were forced to leave in the 60’s and never returned. My mother, in 2018 decided to go back and I accompanied her. We went to her childhood home that the government took from my family and the people who live there now allowed us to tour the property and even take pictures. It was bittersweet but pretty cool to see where my family originated from. I’m glad you got the visitors that previously lived in your home. It’s a cool experience.❤

I remember travelling with my kids to and from Europe from Canada to Germany on a KLM flight and it was wonderful as the Personnel took over my 7 and 5 year old and gathered all the kids on the flight together and gave them games and entertained them the old flight. They fed them first an fed me after so I could eat quietly with my 2 year old…It was like a dream when I think about it. They were different times. My kids are in their 50s now. I feel bad about parents trying to keep a child entertained on a flight. The kids also often suffer with ear ache on flights because of the pressure. Love kids….

This is an excellent episode! I hope you do more like this as your kids grow and you travel more places. We raised 7 kids and almost all our travel was by road... camping, theme parks, beaches, fairs, museums, events, zoos, everywhere. Especially for camping trips, I developed & fine-tuned a near exhaustive list of what to bring (and what NOT to bring), that I printed out & used every year, adjusting for kids' ages, pets, weather, etc. It made my life SO much easier. I also made a great list on a single sheet of paper that I kept up on the fridge titled "BORED?" that listed dozens of little activities (both small & large) that they could choose from if they needed it. Worked great! I still have it (works for my grandkids now too) - I wish I could attach pics of these printouts. I've shared them with a lot of other parents over the years. 🙂

In 1986, my parents built a 5 br, 3 bath Log House with a GORGEOUS stone fireplace. My Dad and Grandpa did all of the interior walls with tongue and groove pine, and my grandpa built the kitchen cabinets! All of us kids got to polyurethane our bedrooms! A couple of years ago, the house went back on the market and my older sister and I got to go look at the house and meet the new owners! We gave them a book with pictures from the build and even gave them one of the saw blades that was used to build the house! My Grandpa was an artist and he painted different landscapes on each one! I still have the one my Grandpa gave me, on the wall at my house! They let us come do a walk-through after they were unpacked so we could see it decorated for Christmas! They are such good people! It makes me feel good to know they love that house as much as we do! So glad you got your time with the previous owner. Your home is a member of your family, and you guys are doing such a fantastic job of making your whole property accessible to your kids! Love your podcast so much! I was born with a unilateral club foot. My left foot was completely backward when I was born. I underwent several reconstructive surgeries but my club foot is 2 sizes smaller than my right foot, and my left leg is 1.5 inches shorter, which throws off everything in my hips and back. I can relate to some of what you, Zack, and the kids go through on a daily basis! Keep up the great work! Congrats on 100,000! Yup. I don't have kids but a puppy now. But that's how I have always traveled when flying. I sometimes will roll my outfits, usually a couple in a backpack for a short trip. Either wash there or when I get back home. I also wear the same outfit for both directions and less connection flights, early mornings or evenings and more than an hour layover. I travel by myself mostly. With my new puppy things are different. ATM. Adjustments.

I worked at the convenience store right next to TSA at PDX. What I would tell the cashiers is that the people coming here from security should be given some slack because their minds are going 6 different directions. We’re here to give them a smile and assistance and take one thing off their minds. You never know when someone might be traveling for a funeral or something upsetting and your 1 minute with them can make a difference in their day and possibly their whole trip. This mindset works when you’re dealing with fellow travelers too.

I identify as childless by choice but feel empathy toward screaming children and their parents (have also learned to tune it out having worked retail all through my 20’s and 30’s but that’s another thing 😂). Everyone has a right to exist and move about world, and that includes flying. We need to learn to self regulate and coping mechanisms if children screaming truly offends our sensibilities.

Parent contact info on a sticker on their shirt, just in case, of course written in small print so people can't read or memorize the info, maybe placed on the side of their shirt, less in view. Or, attach an air tag to THEM. Kiddos are so quick and easily distracted and can disappear in a crowd so fast! I think like Zach, eye on the goal. From point A to point B. In between is what it will be! I won't get caught up in behaviors of others, so many people are just so angry and look for confrontation so they can erupt 🤷‍♀️ I'm not their therapist😂 Kill em' with kindness or put headphones on/in. You two are an awesome team with stellar kiddos❤❤❤ Enjoy your trip!!! I love seeing babies and kids of flights, I try to get them to smile 😁 Congrats on 100K🎉🎉🎉 yipppeeee

We do TV but no iPads at home either. I think that’s the way to go. When we travel, we let them do kids videos or games on our phones or iPad at least halfway or almost to the destination. So they need to entertain themselves for the most part but once everyone starts getting antsy halfway through the trip THEN we bring them out to have a nice quiet end to the travel day!

ProTip: The difference between adult brains & kids' brains is huge. What works for adults to wind down before bed isn't always relatable to what works for kids. We never had a tv in the bedrooms (even though I was jealous of my friends who did when I was growing up!). One of my daughters has 4 young kids and she & her husband made a routine from the beginning to stop everything and read to them before bed every night. I'm super proud of them for keeping to that, because it can be challenging. Tablets & devices are used mid-day at "quiet time" but they're really good to keep lights & sounds from distracting & stimulating their young brains at night. P.S. - Zach & Tori, you're doing a great job with your continuing adventure to raise good humans! 🥰

Travel in your PJs especially when you’re a kid makes everything more comfortable and TSA is so much easier in crocks or slippers than tennis shoes!

I love that you spoke about making your environment good for your family! If you have to reach out to your neighbors and initiate your good intentions, that is part of being good parents ❤

I work for an airline in customer service on the phone. Those airport and inflight crewmembers have THE hardest job! At least I don't have to deal with it face to face. ;) I would say 95% of the customers are AMAZING, but the 5% are THE HARDEST.

Good rant Zach! We drove everywhere with our kids no matter their age. Exploring was our thing. They had stuff in the back of the car to keep busy with ( no Ipads back then) and we played games, like I spy and how many punch buggies they saw (volkswagon's, lol), etc. So many good memories! When the kids got owly, we stopped and got out and did more exploring on foot!

No, the cookie was not passive aggressive. Someone who takes the time to make cookies and carry them to pass out to other travelers is truly trying to make you feel better. 🍪🍪
