@horangi power you can’t see korean fans talking about this because to them, the members didn’t do/say anything wrong. because this kind of behavior is so normalized in their culture (extending to the rest of asia as well, as i am SEAsian myself and being conscious of one’s physical appearance is just very normal). now, does it make it less hurtful to the other person being told they’re “swollen” “gained weight” “eats too much” which in this group’s case is almost always seungkwan? no. and you can see it by the way he’s “punishing” himself every time he “lets himself loose” aka eat unrestricted aka eat like a normal active person should. they show their relationship with food and body image so much (like in the soop, i’d know bec i’m a carat actually) and more often that not it is not very reassuring. at the end of the day, they’re now fully grown men and they work on a global scale, and i’m not saying they should be perfect, it’s just we don’t have to baby these idols and defend them every time. understand cultural differences, yes; send them hate, NO. was it a normal banter between very close friends? yes. was it out of malice? probably not. but when everyone knows how deeply damaging this kind of behavior is to one’s self-esteem, the least we can do is talk about it, hopefully normalize it LESS, and not turn a blind eye just because of cultural differences and language barrier. i hope we can be kinder to each other as always. and seungkwan? your love for food has never diminished your immense talent and bigger-than-the-room personality, and i’ll always adore for you that.

@horangipower96just because there are people who use this opportunity to hat doesn’t mean that we should stop trying to educate them. Making posts and getting people to talk about it is the only way that we can get them to acknowledge that what they said is harmful. Them joking and laughing about eating and gaining weight can be such a harmful message for fans. This kind of behavior is so normalized in society and to see people with a large influence make these comments is disgusting. I say all this hoping that this will be acknowledged and that they will educate themselves.

@@AK-yl5ve they didn't say to stop educating they just said that the immense backlash has led to many people sending death threats, which is not the right way to educate someone. personally i think this is a situation where if seungkwan is truly hurt, he will talk it out with the members. we do not need to have input on this bc we don't know anything about the members' personal lives & we can't force someone to apologise for something that doesn't even affect us. the best we can do now is stop bringing this up & hope that if there is something going on, its being talked about by the members themselves in their own time, because we have no right to know what they do when they're with each other. although i see that this message can be potentially harmful for some people, i think it's wrong to jump to conclusions about it. i am a bigger person myself & i have no problem with it - my friends and i make jokes ab eating & weight all the time, and the only people in this situation who are saying things like "you think making weight jokes to your friends is funny?" are either skinny & don't have to go through fatphobia, or are overly sensitive & refuse to see that some people make jokes with their friends.. how strange ☠️

I'm 10000% agree with you, I've been bullied before, for 3 years in my senior high school I got bodyshamed so bad and being called a pig almost every week. So that word itself is very triggering and hurtful for me. I hope they won't laugh and turn it into a joke because looking at my fav idol doing this really hurts..😥
