Hi Andrew. Enjoyed your video while having a cup of tea and a bun this afternoon. Lovely colour palette and brushwork on this plein air study of Carn Brea. Nice work in a short time with the light changing so quickly at that time of day. Cheers 😊

Turned out really well. I like that you can make a fairly large area of grey interesting, just with your brushwork being active. You always come up with a really interesting vision of what you're seeing, and these paintings would get even nicer when lived with for a while, I'm betting. Glad the weather's warming up for you. I can't bear to go out to paint yet.

A delightful way to start the morning before I headed up into the studio! It is always good to watch you work up composition, to hear your comments with the authentic sounds of the scene. ( I never like it when muzak is added - nature is a far better sound track!) This post will encourage all of us as you identify things which need correction in placing or colour. It is so easy to assume that a professional artist always gets it right first time! I was good to see you adapting as you went along. We assume colours in winter are dull but with mild weather fresh grass grows and the bright greens in the pastures ring true to life. Spring come earlier in Cornwall and you are lucky getting the extra light of an evening compared with the east of the country! Perhaps Rosemary can branch out into thermal insulated boots for winter expeditions! It would be very good to see the panel in the studio, at the end it looked very bright and at other times in the post, colours were darker and more intense. A great demonstration showing that learning can be enjoyed!

Thank you very much Ian. I had problems with the colour balance due to the fading light. I film on my phone and with a Fuji camera - I couldn’t match the footage! I agree with nature’s soundtrack. Can’t beat it 😃

Love your impressionistic style Andrew. I`ve learnt a lot from your videos about not having to add so much detail and do a lot of fiddling when you don`t need to. You capture a scene perfectly with just a few brush strokes and knowing the right colours...very inspiring.

What a lovely rural scene Andrew, and once again captured beautifully! Love that pink mix in the sky.... adds a warm glow to the wintery feel......and the farm sounds! Thanks and all the best.

Fresh with energy. However, I have a problem : you painted the top of the hill with a warm colour very similar to that of the front bottom left. This top of the hill comes forward. Even more since the green of the fields is rather cool. At least I see it this way. May be I am wrong

Hi there and thank you very much for watching and commenting. I agree with you. Unfortunately I was in a hurry as the light was fading fast and I had to walk back down the slippery footpath. If I wanted to make this painting more finished I would probably alter some of these areas in the studio. I will probably leave it as a record of the moment though. All the best Andrew

wow nice. i notice that the 2 cameras have different white balances. the stationary one is very blue, whereas the one mounted on you is much warmer. the final photo at the end is kind of in between. which one is closest? i love the spark of yellow at the bottom. really ignites things.

Thank you - I couldn't match the 2 camera videos due to the poor light on the day. I hand hold my iphone and this is probably the closest colour match as is shown at the end of the video in the still shot

This is just a sketch would you add more detail to this at the studio or are you happy with it as it is because it's a small picture ?
@AndrewBarrowmanArt6 ай бұрын
I won't add anything else into this one. Maybe if it was a bigger panel I would

Hi could you please let me know How do you carry your wet panels back if you have painted more than 1 panel
@AndrewBarrowmanArt6 ай бұрын
You can make a carry rack with slots or buy one? I usually leave 1 wet painting in the easel and carry the other in my free hand
