I was an ambassador and hit a big rank and I can confirm all of this! The products are toxic, the culture is culty and toxic & the pay is horrible!!! When I hit my highest rank, my “average” was suppose to be $4500. Well my paychecks were only $1700 a month! After all that work! I’m so anti-MLM and I’m so thankful you make these deep dives for people to learn how this works!!!

How are they toxic? I’ve had nothing but positive results from them. I love the triplex it has helped me a ton with my gerd, I don’t even feel like I have it anymore. My allergies are gone, I don’t bloat, I’m regular, my moods are way better, my anxiety is gone. Yah maybe the pay is off a little bit you can still make good money and the products are amazing who cares about the money. I share because it’s a life changer not because of the money.

My theory: They don’t make you a “brand ambassador” until you’ve more or less made a sale (aka technically earned *some* income) because it boosts their income disclosure figures…. If you have to earn commission before you’re considered a distributor, there will be no zeroes in the averages for the first rank. All the people who try and can never make a sale (which is most) are never on the books to begin with. Sneaky.

That was my thought. If you’re only joining for the discount, you won’t show up with the ambassadors. So their income disclosure looks better on the surface than some other companies. On the other hand, it takes away the excuse that many of the ambassadors “only joined for the discount”-a favorite excuse for the low success rate. So it’s (probably unintentionally) a hair more honest. It also pushes newbies to sell immediately, which hooks them faster and more thoroughly. From what I’ve heard from ex-huns, it can be mentally hard to make that first sale.

Excellent theory! What came to my mind, (and on a similar theme) was that one of the most cited red-flags for a pyramid scheme is that most of the sales stay "within" the company, and not to actual, outside consumers. Even though that is still exactly the case here, structuring the recruitment this way, with the "VIP customer" stepping stone, helps create the ILLUSION of real, outside-of-the-company customers.

this is what I was going to say. It's to make their income disclosure statement look better. There are a decent amount of people that would before this change sign up as ambassadors just to get the discount and never even try to earn anything... and they would have all been included in the bottom rank.

my sister is a serial MLM hopper and swears by the plexus drink even after her doctor told her to stop taking all the supplements. something people don't often consider when stacking ALL these supplements together, is the toll it takes on your liver and sometimes your heart. With Herbalife especially there have been studies published in medical journals about hepatotoxicity. Tread carefully with supplements babes!

@@HannahAlonzo And doctors agree that there really is no benefit to taking for example 5 times your daily recommendation of Vitamin D or whatever. More isn’t really better. It doesn’t boost your body or your system in any way. It’s not really necessary. Our bodies produce the vitamins that we need to live just fine.

The other problem is stuff binds together and then doesn't work. Coffee blockd absorption of ibuprofen, iron binds with calcium so neither get absorbed, essentially everything interferes with levothyroxine, iron needs vitamin c to absorb, calcium needs vitamin D, carafate will block proper breakd9wn of medications in the stomach, these are just some super common examples. So the reason docs ask patients about supplements is some will mess up your meds in ways neither label specifically tells you.

My ex's mom is in plexus and gave me 30 day supply to try of several different products. I started getting tremors, really bad migraines, kidney stones, and throwing up almost everything. She wanted to put me on her website for my 70 lb weight loss but I was losing weight because I was working a labor intensive job outside. Not from the plexus. I stopped taking it and everything went back to normal. I do not recommend any of their products AT ALL. Please don't take anything without physician supervision. I’ve been an ambassador since about 2018 and regret it more every day. I do need to say that my wife used to have extreme migraines for decades and after about 5 weeks of the pink drink daily she completely stopped having them. That was the clenched for us to start selling. The most I ever made in a month was like $200 but I hated the selling and pushing it part. My up lines up line is a sapphire and makes a ton of money but we just can’t figure out how. I figured out she’d need like 900 people under her every month and it just doesn’t sound possible. We are not allowed to sell stuff on any online platforms which is where I made the most sales before being hit with cease and desist letters. I am about to quit plexus and this video sealed the deal. Thank you.

Plexus is what sent me down the anti-mlm road. I had previously done the buying to support friends thing and knew I didn’t want to join anymore mlms (previously did partylite). A friend sent me a hey hon dm after sharing about a neurological disease I was diagnosed with. I’m sorry but no drink is going to make my cerebellum suck back up into my skull. Only surgery can help me. I raged but ignored her. This was her 3rd mlm that I know of.

I had an old neighbor who has been with Plexus 8 for years. I tried it a few years ago, the pink drink, probio 5, bio cleanse are the products I tried. My stomach was upset 24/7 and it didn’t help me poop. The pink drink tastes good but after I stopped using it, I realized how awful I felt while taking it. My headaches disappeared and just felt better over all. It’s definitely not worth the money but I did help my neighbor install a pool in her new house. 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s the detox phase, it’s not a quick fix. You have to take the right dose too. I take 2-4 probio5 each day and one bio cleanse. If you still can’t go you up your bio cleanse by one. They do help a ton, I’ve been on it for a couple years now almost and my gerd is gone it feels like, my allergies are gone, my bloating is gone, my constipation is gone, my anxiety is gone, my bloating is gone, so much I haven’t felt this healthy in years. There is always a detox phase, it’s cleansing the crap out of you. You didn’t get unhealthy over night so your not going to get healthy over night. She’s still taking it 8 years later because it’s a life changer. Even my skin, hair and nails are way better and healthier. Gut health is important. The ones that stay on it are the ones that see the true benefits of plexus. The ones that try it for a couple months and fall off because they don’t like the detox phase are the ones that think it doesn’t work but if you get through that phase it will change your life. The detox phase only lasted a week for me but everyone is different. It’s not about the money tho, I really don’t care, I would share it even if it wasn’t an MLM because it changes lives and has changed so many getting people off medications. :-)

@@ypooopppppppppqasert you sound like a true MLM hon. 🤦🏻‍♀️ hmmm, what’s that saying, if it sounds to good to be true….if it’s taken care of all you health issues than it wouldn’t be an MLM because doctors would suggest it to every patient. Omg i am so happy you did this deep dive! I had a coworker message me at home a few years ago with the weird "hey hun" feel to her message... i live in an area that is majority mennonite and mlm businesses are huge here. Many people do several mlms at one time! So anyway... she messages me at home pushing this "pink drink". At the time, i was going through major thyroid issues. I had developed Graves' disease/ hyperthyroidism and seeing an endocrinologist. I was waiting to have RAI (radioactive iodine) treatment. She latched onto that and basically told me she could cure my thyroid. I told her i wasn't interested (in the very typical indirect passive Canadian way...) but she wouldn't give up. She said she could have me talk to the "plexus physician" to explain how it could help me... i ended up having to tell her my doctor didn't want me taking it. I've also had a SIL say she could "cure" my thyroid with young living oils and also had my work supervisor add her mlm drink samples in an envelope with my xmas bonus cheque!

I did join this one out of sick curiosity 6ish years ago. That is also before I realized how bad MLM's actually are. I was recruited from someone on IG and immediately I was added to two Facebook groups and they definitely did a lot of hype and some love bombing etc. They also did these "giveaways" that seemed very contrived. I was smart and signed up with a credit card that was about to expire and never updated it when it did. I tried the items for about 60 days. The pink drink is disgusting and is super sweet and just made me not want to drink it. None of the products were magical in anyway. Just a bunch of overpriced vitamins lol that could really be toxic if taking too much of certain ones.

My friend got sucked into Plexus a few years a go. She asked me to join, at the time I had never heard of MLMs so I didn't know how bad the business model. I wasn't going to join just because I didn't want to have to socialize enough to sell stuff to people on Facebook. She gave me a week sample of pink drink to try out and see if I liked it enough to sell. I said ok to give it a fair shake. When I say this drink gave me the worst heart burn of my life, it's an understatement. I felt like I was going to die. My heart was racing, my chest burned like I swallowed a flaming sword. I felt like I was going to throw up but it never happened. I told my friend what was happening to me and she said you have to drink a lot of water. I drank almost a gallon that day and it didn't even touch the hellscape that is Pink Drink. My friend was horrified about how badly the drink affected me, I think that was the first crack in the myth of Plexus, luckily she left them a few months later. Just thinking about it makes my chest hurt.

Was a plexus ambassador back in December 2021-Jan 2022. I had just had a baby and was looking to lose the baby weight and get “natural energy”. Signed up and was stressed into posting and messaging tons and tons of people while taking care of a newborn and 1 year old. I told my upline (who I know personally) and was told you gotta use any spare moment you have. Anyone with two under two knows any spare time you have you rest, so I was exhausted and felt even worse but kept going. Made one sale off my mom who hated all the products except one and couldn’t justify the price so she never repurchased.I was messaged constantly like they were checking up on a friend and asked why i didn’t purchase or anything or post. I said I just can’t sell it I don’t want to nor do I have time to. And still was pressured to be a customer. I told my upline and her upline who both messaged me within 5 min of each other that I cannot afford the products and will not be purchasing. They even agreed that unless you’re selling the products it’s pretty expensive to purchase them continually. Also I had to buy more products to even get money from my moms sale. I spent maybe $300 in products and made around $30-40 in sales 🙃 best part is now that I’m not buying or selling she doesn’t message me at all. While I was “working the business” she messaged me almost everyday just to chat and what not, now nothing lol

I was furious with the way their team neglected this. I told my sister-in-law to open her eyes on what these people where doing just to rank up. The fact that you can meet your PV requirements each month by paying for it yourself does not sit right with me. I think on the flip side of your point about it getting people into debt (or more debt), that setup also strikes me as giving people with more disposable income a distinct advantage and only further widening the income gap. And then that would make it even easier for those at the top to just keep buying their own PV, ranking up, selling the lifestyle, and being able to more easily recruit as a result. I didn't know much about Plexus before this video, but that PV fact alone is gross to me and in my opinion only further contributes to reducing more women's spending power rather than increasing it. Great video as always!

Thanks, Hannah. My husband's older daughter was in Plexus when she was in undergrad level College, up to seven years ago. I remember that she had some ongoing digestive system issues and some Plexus products apparently helped her feel better. She hasn't mentioned to him having been involved with Plexus in more recent years. I told my husband about your videos, and "Did you know that Plexus is a MLM?" 😊 Of course, your explanation of MLM products cost so freaking much...including the "pink drink".

I honestly heard that about some MLMs. I know people who use(d) Herbalife and said it works or that still use some Mary Kay products because they really like them, so it's not necessarily that all the products an MLM sells are complete garbage. I'll never forget something that someone once told me in relation to Herbalife - "their products are actually good, just don't get into selling for them". Though it's definitely a double edged sword; you *know* a business model is faulty and bad so you don't want to get into it, yet you support it by buying the products.

@@floraflowersI will say I buy Senegence makeup and sone of their skincare. I use the products because I like them and they do what they’re supposed to- which is last all day. But they’re not for my health. I don’t buy from companies that do health and wellness because they’re not FDA approved and have absolutely no oversight and No accreditation process. Supplements are like the Wild West and most don’t help and some cause harm. I have a friend who recently started selling plexus (she’s sold just about every MLM out there and tried to get me to buy them all). She told me plexus would help the inflammation of my fibromyalgia and help me sleep. She’s not a doctor and I’m under the care of a doctor for my fibromyalgia. If there were some magic thing to reduce the inflammation he would certainly tell me because he would like to see me suffer less. But there is no magic pill out there. So I’m fine with people selling and buying makeup, clothes, Scentsy, Colorstreet nails (which I also buy and have been approached to sell but I’m not interested). But when you get into health products I think it can be really dangerous. These “bio cleanse” type things scare me off too since I have IBS and I’d completely lose any control of it if I was taking something that makes me go!!

Excellent video, thank you! I have a friend who is also in one of those cul-- sorry, MLMs. It's very similar to Plexus, only by a different name ("LifePlus"), which also claim to focus on health. She is so brainwashed by and entangled in this scam that it's really hard to talk normal with her; everything circles back to how important health is - which is actually true - and what we can do to improve our health. She's smart enough to not immediately cram their products down her opponent's throat but instead to engage them in a conversation about health without mentioning any products. And she can talk about this forever! Her whole world revolves around health - and consequently, LifePlus products - now. Very sad.

Hi, I have a background in Psychology (a Bachelor's degree) and two things came to mind when you mentioned that they now require you to be a customer first. First I thought maybe this was to have some sort of effect on their income disclosure statement... so now by not counting all the people who are just customers wouldn't it make their income disclosure for their actual ambassador number higher?? 🤔🤔🤔... and secondly I cannot for the life of me remember exactly what the term is for this kind of manipulation in Psychology so please if anyone knows comment it below but fraternities often use this technique by making they're member go through extensive hazing to make them think that the process of becoming a member was SOOO entirely worth their time and effort. In other words, most people don't want to admit they did all this embarrassing shit for nothing so they will say oh it was totally worth it to become a part of this group. I can't think of the actual term though that this type of manipulation would be called.....

Commitment bias. I’ve heard this explained in terms of when you take your kids to the zoo/carnival/other expensive outing. Then they want food, souvenirs, etc. So you tell yourself, well I’ve already spent $X so I guess $20 more isn’t a big deal. I’ve also heard this framed in terms of opportunity cost. For example, you sign up for an expensive pottery class that’s non-refundable simply because your friend asks you to. You have no interest in pottery. You friend gets sick and can’t go, but you go anyway simply because you’ve already paid for. When honestly, it’s okay to chalk that up to peer pressure and stay home because you hate pottery. The opportunity cost is losing out the time that you could have done something else you enjoy with that time, but you feel pressured to go because you already paid for it.

I have chronic illnesses so I’ve been pitched Plexus an absurd number of times 🙄. I researched the products as much as I could (which, 8 years ago was much harder than it should have been to find the ingredients) and found that I was literally already taking the same things, on recommendation from my doctors. Which I told the seller, who STILL tried to shame me for not wanting to switch to buying from her.

I can’t for my life understand how somebody thinks that the car program in any mlm is a good thing and something you want to do. It’s so obvious a bad seat to be in and a negative thing for you to do. Someone else, who’s not paying or owning the car is the one telling you what kind of car you can have! It’s absolutely ridiculous. If i decide to take out an expensive car it sure as hell would be a car that I want and the color I want, not by anyone else’s choice. And what a massive stress that would be to have hanging over your head all the time, to not know month by month if you can pay for your car or not. Those car programs in any mlm is one of the worst things you can get yourself involved in. And I do also dislike health and wellness MLMs, please people, eat great food and move your body, that’s the best way to great health. Shoving pills and drinks down your throat will never be a good thing. Check your status at the doctors if you are worried and the doctor can tell you if you are lacking something important in your body that you need to have more of, most often by food and sometimes by supplements, but then your doctor can recommend the right ones for you.

Because this an older video, I don't know that you will see this comment. But there is a sad story here I know of. A former friend got sucked into this with promises that it would cure her infertility. She desperately wants to have a baby and she's bought it hook line and sinker. I thought she'd eventually give it up when she saw that it wouldn't work, but she's actually doubled down. After 3 ish years of being sure she would get pregnant, she still hasn't but has actually had more medical issues. And she started pushing the products on her one daughter who now gets "randomly" sick all the time. Like at least once a month for a week and nobody can seem to figure out why this poor 8 year old is sick all the time. It breaks my heart, but she's uninterested in hearing anything bad about Plexus.

In my opinion, they probably changed the qualification to become a brand ambassador for the same reason Lula Roe changed their bonus structure: With Lula Roe, consultants originally would get a bonus based on the number of people who signed up below them. But that was too much like a pyramid scheme, so then they changed it to being based on the number of items actually sold. With Plexus, giving brand ambassadors bonuses every time they recruited someone is too much like a pyramid scheme. But if the "recruits" are required to become customers first, then it "looks" less like a pyramid scheme, because: "Look! We get bonuses based on getting CUSTOMERS!" That, and 100% what Allison Saul said below! It makes their compensation plan look slightly less dismal.

She still made her pitch and I only filled out the contact form she had given me so I could go my way. She blew up my phone for the next few days until I blocked her. I was a self-conscious 16-years-old when this happened and I do remember this encounter every now and again, more than a decade later. If these really do boost the immune system - they would be tragic for autoimmune disease. Autoimmune disease is an over reaction of the immune system that is targeting parts of the body that belong. When you boost the immune system - you boost the antibodies that attack the healthy parts of the body. For me - it's muscles. If you boost my immune system you will worsen - not improve my muscle strength. Autoimmune diseases are treated by SUPPRESSING the immune system *NOT* Boosting them!! We take drugs known as "immunosuppressive" therapy, oral chemotherapy, and steroids to suppress the immune system. It is CRAZY that they are marketing an immune booster to treat autoimmune disease!! One thing I don’t think you mentioned was the fact that if you do not hit your own PV requirements for the month, then you will not reap any benefits underneath you. For example I had 3 people underneath me, if all 3 made orders that month and reached their PV requirements, that was still not enough for me to make mine, so I would have to spend at least $130 to reach my PV requirements to even receive the small amount earned by the people signed up underneath of me. Now it has been a few years since I was part of plexus, but that is how it worked when I was in it.

The becoming a customer first is to show they have more customers. They know most people will never bring one brand partner on so they keep you as a customer even though you are trying to be a brand partner This is the new way for companies to show the FTC, see we have more customers than brand partners when in reality many of those customers want to be brand partners. Someone who naturally generates sales is worthy of meaningful coaching and further encouragement to recruit etc. a lot of the mlms appear to be changing and it is my belief that they are trying to disassociate themselves from being a ponsy
