And... breathe. I'm proud to present my solo from The Glass Bead Game, the final track from Plini's second album, Impulse Voices. When I listened to the track for the first time earlier in the year, I basically just burst into tears when I got to the section that would become my solo. It was just a bit overwhelming to suddenly sit there listening to this fantastic music and think, "I get to do this."
And then I got to work and wrote this solo, which features lots of harmonics (probably my favourite thing in the world), including a block of several bars entirely in harmonics (peak favourite thing to play!), and I hope you like it. I put everything I had into it.
I played a Salvi Rainbow electroacoustic, loaned by Salvi Music London for this recording - big thanks to them for making that possible.
Huge thanks to ‪@simongrove‬ for mixing this so expertly. The whole album sounds absolutely massive, and the harp shimmers within it. And thanks again to Plini for this incredible opportunity. I am so grateful to have had the chance to work on this.

Amy this is the coolest harp music I've ever heard. I don't really know anything about the harp, but I know your solo was incredible here and connected with me. It made this piece incredibly unique and instantly one of my all time favorites. Incredibly well played and written. This is my favorite tune on the album. Thank you so much for this, and I hope you get to tour it with Plini someday soon!

I seriously cry with you sometimes when I hear it. It's perfectly beautiful and you can really hear all the heart and soul you put into this. It shows. Ive been listening to the album just about every day now since it came out, and this bit still takes my breath away every time. Thank you so so so much for such a wonderful solo on this absolute masterwork of a breathtaking album.

Amy, when IV dropped, I listened to this section over and over struggling to figure out how on earth Plini made these gorgeous sparkling sounds on a guitar...... and just learned from KZfaq it was YOU! That syncopated section at 0:32 gets me every time. A heavenly beautiful solo! More Please!

Wow that solo is breath taking. It's funny because while I was listening to that song and commenting it with a friend I said something like: "that harp part sounds soo good. It really adds alot to the whole song". When I said that it was on pure sound recognition instinct. So now I'm here after some google searches because I realized that 'holy shit that epic solo was done on an harp" I needed to know who did it. Now I have a list full of harp song/covers to listen to. Thank you

How do you even approach recording a harp out of interest?
@amyturkharp
@amyturkharp 3 жыл бұрын
This harp has a stereo DI so it's a different deal to recording a regular concert harp, which is more fiddly like anything acoustic, means more mics and being more aware of the sound of the harp within the room. Being able to plug in and play is a serious novelty for me because a regular recording session takes me a good 30 mins just to set up.
