I play a Magic the Gathering Online Modern league with Jace Reawakened Plot Control, a deck from Patreon subscriber Tsunserie. This deck uses Plot Jace from Outlaws of Thunder Junction to cheat on suspend spells like Ancestral Vision and Profane Tutor to get big effects for free! That synergy is tucked into a basic-land heavy Dimir Control deck that features Harbinger of the Seas from Modern Horizons 3 as another angle of control to complement the counterspells and removal expected in the color pair. Round 2 game 1 is a good reminder that you need to grind through your opponents interaction. You can’t just sit back and do nothing when you know your opponent is holding answers.

The old agro adage "Make them have it" applies here, but only when you either are SO aggressive your only chance is to go under them, or you already have a slight advantage and you need them to spend their answers to keep you from getting further ahead (while you continue to push your current advantage). This requires knowing your role in the matchup. If you are the agro deck (of the two), you need to push because that means your threats numerically outweigh their answers and it's up to THEM to find enough.

Someone needs to put this jace in a restoration of eiganjo list; UW control with Jace foretelling restore balances on top of ancestrals would be siiiick

G3 Round 3 I think the correct play was to uptick PW Tamiyo; you can only die to Jegantha and/or Slickshot and you already save 2 damage this way so with Delirium you only take 4 damage if you use the Stern Scolding + Petty Theft.

Any thoughts on Frogs in this deck (maybe in the profane tutor slot, or maybe even just in the sideboard)? I just feel like playing UB and not playing the Frog is a mistake

In reference to you after thoughts about flex slots, I think we could swing psychic frog in the bowmaster slot pretty easily. 2 of murk is the only competition for the graveyard. A snapcast or two wouldn’t be amiss as well

Fun deck. Currently playing a dimir list as well but it's more tempo with Psychic frog, FoN, and Brainsurge. Still had opponents conceding to flipped Tamiyo on an empty board and 9 cards in hand though

Saw doomwake play r3 opp deck and it was insane to watch it go. Early interaction to kill their “tiny” threats is key to breaking up the blowout. Good beats B!

i played the grixis version in paper. With flame of anor, K command expressive iteration , all good cards to be plotted. Also not sure if vision is good with some bowmaster in the format. See the thruth seems also really fine in this deck if you add some snaps :-)

Halfway through the video I do think second swamp is good. The lack of second swamp has come up twice.

Calling a match a good match when you loose is so nice. Like, yeah, you lost, but you played tight and made them really earn the win, and that's what makes magic worth playing.

game 1 round 2 when you drww the counter spell always makes me laugh. It really shows magic is a luck game alot of the time haha, like if you didnt draw it, opp would of cast nerco and won.

i still dont get why ppl run visions and not see the truth in this deck. is being a worse impulse on hard cast worse than waiting the 4 turns for visions? it seems likes its less bad when you need it to do something, and just as good when you can plot it (maybe better since its not drawing cards). suspending visions t1 is good but t1 is one turn of the game.

No. My decks come from Patreon subs who send me things to play. If it feels like Modern is getting a lot of exposure, it's because that's what my community is excited by right now. FWIW, MH3 is way more exciting for Modern than it is for Legacy.

I just wanna point out that this deck went toe to toe against the decks that made top 8 and won the pro tour. Although I believe that bant nadu, not 4 colours nadu won.

According to my Moxfield, of my last 573 videos there have been 334 Legacy and 95 Modern. So the answer to your questions is that Legacy is always my most common offering but Modern has always been well-represented. In case you missed it, a giant set full of awesome new Modern cards was just released specifically to impact this format. It's very cool.
