In Oregon and Washington, a lot of the cities don't allow on street parking at night so the snow plows can do the whole road.

Advice for non-snow dwellers: make sure you go out and clear that snow the plows pushed around onto the sides of your car on the first day. If you let that snow get hard after day 2 or 3, you'll be taking a taxi or bus and train. You've been warned.

This is fantastic, unless it is your car that is being plowed in. Often, after the snowfall, the temp. drops, so the plowed snow becomes a wall of ice-rock! Love to all!

In Norway they just use wheel loaders with a adjustable plow, that will grab all the snow, so they can push them to another location. But for bigger city's I would just do how they do it in Japan, Large snowblower mounted on a wheel loader, tractor or a purpose build, that blow all the snow up in trucks, and they have lots of trucks driving on rotation to either a close dumping location or sea port

Never seen a garbage truck with a snow plow on it!

I'm assuming NY doesn't collect the snow after. In Montreal they're very efficient, they plow and then carry away the snow in trucks and dump it off a cliff. We need that also here in Toronto.

I would hate to live in the city without offstreet barking.

Many cities should take note and use the garbage trucks during heavy snow storms. Unfortunately, its more about unions than it is about snow removal safety of the public during heavy storms. Buffalo NY continues to not use all resources available during heavy snow storms (ie: garbage trucks)

Im sorry but thats incredibly inefficient. Theire not removing the problem, just moving it. Few high capacity snowblowers with xl pipes to fill a ton of trucks and then build a huge heap somewhere. Im guessing theres no snowmelting facility around? The amount of snow theire pushing, it gotta make it near impossible for cars and pedestrians to exit and leave the main street. And what about intersections etc? There will be a big wall of snow after the last truck. Although i get its emergency state right now and they have to do something but still..
