yes, it does display the current bpm in real time on the cdj display. just like you would use it with cd or usb stick.

I was using vinyl and stuck with it for years as I didn't like CDJ's. When vinyl became harder and harder to get I went straight to Traktor and loved it. I like my Traktor S4 and love my library /set up etc but as I am going to start playing out again rather than parties I need to get CDJ2000 muscle memory built up so buying the CDJ2000 nexus 2 today. Reckon I will use Traktor with it but mostly excited to get move to hard drives, not having to worry about my laptop all night and feeling really comfortable with the Pioneer industry standard. Started moving trans to Rekord box this week and I REALLY like it. Going to take a long time to tag everything but Im already thinking its much better than Traktors tagging, which surprised me.

i found out that setup with older units than CDJ2000 is bit problematic. their hid mode isnt plug and play ready and you have to manually map or import mapping for it to work. definitely not for the club environment friendly. i actually never succeded trying it this way.

if other DJ is using same setup probably not, I am searching for solution too

***** You'll need one cable for each CDJ that you're connecting (2 CDJs = 2 USBs, 4 CDJs = 4 USBs). The DJM 900 has a Traktor soundcard built in so if you have that connected to your laptop you don't need a Traktor soundcard like the Audio 6/10. Hey unfortunately the CDJ 850's don't have advanced HID support in Traktor. People have asked for a long time and it hasn't happened, so it likely won't be supported.

DJ TechTools can you do a setup video with CDJ 850's for recordbox, bought chroma cables and struggling to link them properly and what settings to use in recordbox Please Help haha!!

How they laugh of us !!! I remember at the release they were saying that they will be HID compatible with Traktor but they only give us timecode compatible for the CDJ-850. Serato did the HID for the cdj850 and rekordbox recently did it. Hope Native Instruments will follow the train and add HID support in the next release of Traktor Pro for the cdj850. good question. i found that highest sample rate you can choose is 48KHZ. im not sure with CDJ2000NEXUS2 tho, they might have upraded this option. Also yes, im lazy and play 320kbps mp3s so i dont find the 96khz option necessary.

i can tell you right away, good sir. it feel honestly the same as when using traktor soundcard. traktor influences its output by its master volume, autogain and limiter. so i experience guys playing directly from cdj using cds, rekordbox or usb stick have generally higher volume and dynamics, so i HAVE to adjust to the same leven on the gains of the mixer. The sound quality when in Traktor HID mode is however translated by cdj itself, and we all know, the pioneer things are pretty much ok and can even deserve industry standard. So long story short: after gain adjustments when compared playing same tune on same bitrate from traktor hid mode cdj and cdj loaded with tune directly it feels strongly the same. honestly i can't find the difference. all this said, HID mode has one upside to traditional Traktor stuff. You can use the digital out on the cdj to send digital signal, whereas traktor soundcards can't (as oposed to higher serato soundcards, right?), which might have potential to someone :).

Hey Shari, the sound quality is worse atleast what I heard. When playing from USB straight from CDJ the sound is more crisp and clear. You don't have to boost the audios gain much as well, but that might be because of Traktors headroom.

Is your collection big? When the collection is empty or very small, it opens really fast. Mine is big (1000+ tracks) and am using the same collection for years. It takes around 10 to 15 seconds to open.

HID CDJ mode is independent on your mixer setup. it doesnt matter which mixer you use. using DJM900nexus as a soundcard is completely different topic tho. dont get the two mixed up mate :)

This works also for an analog mixer ?? I just did all that was explained but signal is not coming out from the mixer but from the laptop, I cant use the mixer but the controls on the software

hi rodrigo. A) your setup needs to be external type (change it in output options) B) also you need to select right soundcard in your traktor setup. please rewatch the video and tutorial very very carefully :)

+Sezar Peiro im pretty sure you can link traktor with most cdjs by pioneer, i tried it on some CDJ400s and it worked fine, maybe you'll need to download a different driver on the laptop (i can't quite remember exactly but it did work)

yes, older versions than CDJ2000 are not plug and play ready as shown in the video. its setup is more hustle. i do not recommend it trying in club environment without heavy testing in studio.

I have my current computer setup that way. It's really great. If I'm recording a mix I can sit down and watch KZfaq at the same time while I wait the 8 minutes for the song to play out before I need to do my next mix. I can do a total of three independent sound sources at any time and not have them interfere with each other. The mix via on board controller sound using an asio driver, computer audio via windows driver and the third source via the ZXR driver. I don't think it's actually supposed to work but creative makes janky drivers and the ZXR will allow 2 input sources at any time independent of each other. There's a setting that says allow this device exclusive access. If you uncheck that you can run 2 sources. I've never once had a problem with the sound card lagging or not keeping up and causing glitches in the mix recording. It really is a nice feature to have.

have you considered renting a local dj studio place with such equipment. i found out i pay few hundred bucks a year to have access to latest stuff and get enough play hours. but it depends. if you need to build your home studio, good luck :)

+DJ TechTools i know this video was before El Capitan,i ran into a problem after updating to el caitan whereby traktor 2.10 only shows 1 left and 2 right ,no option for 3 and 4 so decks audio comes out from same output ...i ended up using my usb

I hear ya! but please hear me. I have been djing on Traktor for so long, im super used to its library. its actually lesser hustle bringing your laptop to a club than transforming your latest Traktor library or selected playlists to rekordbox and export them before the gig. Also using Traktor can give you few more options that are strictly better than rekordbox setup, for example +-32 beat beatjump (rekordbox offers 4beat jump tops, which is not enough). The setup in the video may sound complicated, but in reality it takes only few seconds to prep up. When compared with DVS setup on cdjs using traktor soundcard, this is strictly better.

I think it's easier to manage my playlists and music collection via Traktor. It allows me to hop through libraries and use search. Also looping and a big waveform is definitely something that helps you especially if you're playing tracks that you don't know that well. This is mostly when it's a birthday or a private event where people will request songs. You can also download tracks live if necessary. Different thing is when you know no one is going to request and they come to listen to you playing. Then a rekordboxed USB is a better choice, you know all your tracks and it's all about the atmosphere, not Jason Derulo singing about travelling the world x) just my 2 cents

ZENSE I play as an open format DJ. I mainly play in clubs, but very different nights. I also play on Private and Corporate events so I have + 12000 tracks on my SSD's to cover most of my needs. Everything is well organized in different crates/playlists so I can find the tracks I need fast, but there's a very good search function I can use as well. That's not a problem. About the waveform. The waveform is actually bigger on the screens on the Nxs/Nxs2/XDJ-series than they are on a 15'' laptop running Traktor/Serato, and you can easily zoom in and out as well. Beat grids ar adjustable on the fly. The info about cues/hot cues/loops are also very easy to read. On the Nxs/Nxs2 there's also instant doubles, bar countdown and other functions more common in DJ software. If you use an i-Phone, you can install Rekordbox on it. If you feel you must download a track, do it. Import it to Rekordbox and then you can play it. If you use your laptop, same proceure. The new search on the Nxs2 and XDJ-1000Mk2, with qwerty layout and the way you can categorize your music for different search preferences is the best in the business. Dj software doesn't even come close. If you live nearby you're welcome to visit for a try out. An hour with the Nxs2 setup and Rekordbox and you'll start saving for your own setup :) . I hope you have someone who can show you how it works because I read so many uninformed opinions here that I'm surprised that some people even bother to write at all. I have used Traktor on my computer since they first came out, and I have a backup computer with Serato Scratch/Rane SL1/DVS and my opinions are based on my knowledge about the stuff I use.

+dj-peterofficial I bet NXS2 is absolutely great with the new stuff. I am coming home from a gig atm and I played with HID. Only thing that sucks about the HID is that on Windows PCs it might crash sometime. The sound quality is definitely worse than on USB. It's just easier for me to use a laptop because categorizing my tracks in rekordbox is so long process. A good portable SSD drive would be great thing to have. I mainly play with my Traktor S4, but sometimes CDJs on clubs.

ZENSE Ok. Good you have a system that works for you. I've had to restart everything when I switched from Vinyl to CD and then again when I started to use USB/rekordbox. To not have to go through the same troubles again, I organize my music entirely in my computer by preferences that works for me. Then I drag those folders in to whatever system I want to use and create matching playlists. For my Serato backup I just update the folders now and then and if an accident would happen to my workstation, I can just drag my in folders in to Rekordbox and a few hours later everything would be in playlists and analyzed again. I don't even use the tags, except for cover arts. I name my files by either BPM or Tonality, sometimes both, depending how I intend to play the music. not really. considering you have enough usb slots, you can still use z2 as a sound card and cdj units only as hid controllers (in this case you don't need no aggregation of the cdj units).
