This is a preview build of Project Zomboid Build 41. This video recorded from a special preview of Build 41 that the developers of Project Zomboid allowed me to do. Included in Build 41 are extensive updates to the animations in the game, a new clothing system that includes many new outfits that grant extra protections, and a number of new weapons and items to expand the gameplay.

A problem I stuggled with early on is discussing mechanics, metalwork, carpentry, and tailoring were some outliers which seemed like extras but if you taught this material it'll prove vital to the experience.

Important note: -You need carpentry level 6 to build a stair so you can get to the next floor to build roof and place the barrels

You may aswell get to carpentry level 7 and build large water barrels, if you get to level 6 to build stairs

and if you are smart you can get level 7 to make the larger water barrel which holds 300 units of water and is more efficient to collect water from rain

@@cromulentarcher Do the water barrels need to be on roof tiles? Or can they be floor tiles? I have water barrels, on floor tiles, all above a sink that is fully enclosed and I have a pipe wrench and I can’t see any option to plumb it 😕

*IF YOU CAN'T PLUMB YOUR SINK:* - make sure your base is considered as a "interior", the game won't let you plumb a sink if it's considered "outside". You can know the game considers a place as an interior room when if you're standing in it the outside world is darkened/invisible. So build walls and a roof. Another indicator as a room being "interior" is that on your digital watch will show a slight change in temperature from the outside world. btw you CAN place the rain collector above the sink now.

IIRC, the rain collector can be placed directly above the sink now. It was patched sometime ago.

If you aren't at the carpentry lvl to build stairs or have access to a roof You must: - build some flooring outside a two story window - put your sink/counter under said floors - build walls around the sink as it has to be indoors for some reason -put down your rain collectors then hook it all up You can connect a sink/washer adjacent to any two story house at lvl 4 carpentry, you just have to be creative.

FYI: At lvl 5 elec. you can craft battery connectors with scrap electronics by right clicking any lamp or wall sconce and crafting battery connector. Then you can add a battery and presto any light is now battery powered. Enjoy the light!

Currently at version 41.55 there is a bug with the sink and washing machine. If you move a new sink or washing machine into your base, it just won't allow you to plumb it but if you install a water barrel above it can be plumb. Later, you can remove the barrel and it is still working. The sink will still have water supply only if the water didn't shut off.

thing is you dont need to be good at the game you so only need a level 6 carpentry some nail and planks and a sledge and some sheet rope and from that point forward its all you until you reach those to that point you're quite helpless

I don't think the part where you said "You have to build your own sink and cannot use a pre-existing sink" is the case any longer. I was able to plumb the sink that's next to the laundry room in the Firehouse of Rosewood! It's the same ol' sink that's been there since the first day I started! I'm not sure if it's because of a mod, or if maybe they changed this in an update. Regardless, I'm now a happy.. water drinking.. shower taking.. flush the toilet for no reason.. having ass water drinker plumber guy! Thanks a ton!

You can conect existing sinks, or at least it has worked for me. I don't know if they have changed it in the latest patch.

Okay I know a lot of other people have been having this issue with not being able to plumb the sink even though they have everything they need. Step 1. If your watch does not go up in temperature the room is not considered INSIDE(And when I say go up I mean a WHOLE number like 10 degrees for example). If this is the case there is a wall that is bugged and you need to destroy it and replace it. You can find out which one it is by going into the debug menu. This video describes how to fix this issue ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/isimdK2ey5-wl2g.html ) Step 2. To go into debug menu you need to go into your steam library, go to Project Zomboid, RIGHT CLICK, go into properties. and type in "-debug" into the launch properties. Once that happens you can start up the game and start your world like normal. If you're still having trouble here's a 1 minute video on how to get into the debug menu ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nbSgm7SYydKlhmw.html ) Step 3. Once you load in you're going to see a red bug icon. click on that. its gonna give you a bunch of options. You wanna click on "Iso Regions" and that should give you a map of the room and where it is disconnected from. SOMETIMES destroying 1 wall won't be good enough. You might need to destroy the wall and also the ones adjacent to it. TIP I've noticed that depending on where the wall is you can see the lip where it disconnects but this really only works if the wall your looking at is pointed at the camera. if its one of the back walls you wont be able to tell If you did all of this correctly you should notice a change in temperature on your watch as well as a noticeable "tint" change on the outside of the walls. You THEN should finally be able to connect your sink. Hopefully everything works well. If you have any questions be free to ask.

It doesn't matter if the are existing or moved. Previously there was a bug that didn't let you plumb existing sinks until the water ran out, but I believe it has been fixed.

I thought you needed 3 in mechanics to take and move a sink?? how did you get the sink? otherwise this is great. also a new built house has to be completely walled in to plumb a sink.

You can find sinks in certain outlets, ive found a metal sink in a crate in the back of the appliance outlet in muldraugh near the school

something no one tells you. you can build rain collectors at level 4, you can't build stairs till level 6. until then better find a accessible rooftop with a good place for a sink underneath :)

What’s the logic of requiring the rain collector to be one space behind the sink? Intuitively, it should be any space either directly above the sink or within a few tiles.

Well, maybe like a curvature in the pipe(which you supposedly install) where you can put a filter (which you supposedly have).. if the plumbing required metal pipes and some kind of handcrafted or factory made filter it would be way more realistic and sensical

Does the sink need to be indoors yeah? I've set up outside with a raised platform on my farm and don't have the option to plumb it in. Would be good to know before I dismantle it all. Thanks.

I will cry if they add filtering in the mix in a future update, I don't know if this plumbing was intended by the devs, and if it's not let's hope it doesn't get changed, although it's way too convenient and easy to install in the early to mid game.

06-2023 you can plumb a previously existing sink. I can't plumb a sink I have set myself from 2 floors below. Maybe the max is only 1 floor?

yes, I built a barrel on the second story roof which would be a 3rd story if I was to build walls and a roof, went down second story bathroom and plumbed it then went all the way down to the 1st and checked a sink and I also got the option to plumb it so I did, barrel doesn't have to be right above the sink either. btw my base is the north gas station in Rosewood.

((Washer Plumb Bug)) Has anyone here encountered and fixed this problem? Check it out.. A spawned copy of the combo washer only works as a normal sink without the machine's ''Blue washer combo'' >''Turn on'' feature even appearing.. Now if you pick it up and put it back down manually, the feature appears, but no longer can connect to the barrel above. WTF is going on? (Tried barrels everywhere on top) Why won't it work, and how do I get it to work?

If you mean can you put water from a river in the collector using, say a bucket, then yes and it will be filtered at the sink.

Dirty and bloody clothes increases unhappiness. If you have the hemophobic trait, bloody clothes will panic your character and disrupt your sleep.

Also if you’re wounded, it’s more likely to be infected if you’re wearing dirty clothing

No actual functional reason. It is quicker in my mind to just wash my clothes at a sink while wearing them. Never gotten sick from dirty clothes in the hundreds of hours I've played, but choose hemophobic sometimes.

The video: *quick tip* The reality: *2 hours trying to wonder why the fuck your character is phasing through a floor, why you can't destroy the stairs, why it's not working when plumbing, getting annoyed with the leftover structure that you can no longer remove...* The construction system in this game is a joke.
